Estonia: Stefan speaks exclusively at Eurovision Fun!

He is one of the favorites of Eesti Laul 2022 and with his song “Hope” he is on the race  to represent Estonia at Eurovision 2022 in Turin, Italy.

Stefan speaks exclusively at Eurovision Fun and we are really very happy to host him!

-Stefan, welcome to Eurovision Fun and thank you very much for this interview! First we would like you to tell us some things about you, so that our readers can get to know you better.

-Hey Eurovision Fun! I’m glad that you contacted me. I am super excited about Eesti Laul and HOPEfully I’ll get to go to Eurovision (did you see what I did there).

Well, if I would have to describe myself then first thing is that I am a singer with an Armenian roots. I enjoy cooking and writing songs. I think I’d say I am a positive person. I like to have fun and thats why I hate corona so much. Because for me I need people to have fun, even though I enjoy being alone. It all depends.

-How did you decide to participate in Eesti Laul?

-Hope was actually written 2 years ago and I felt like this year was this songs turn to shine.

-This is your 4th time in the national final. Which of your entries do you love the most?

-All of those times were amazing.

-What is the message you want to convey with “Hope”?

-“Hope” was inspired by the situation around the world such as corona, black lives matter, war in Armenia where my relatives were, politics.. and so on. So it all inspired me to seek hope and fight back and not give up in these tough times. Because If you lose your hope then there is no point of living. Hope will be the last thing to die. So I want people to realise that everything is possible only if you won’t lose your hope.

-What should we expect from you on the stage for the semi final?

-I don’t want to get your hopes up but at the same time I think you wont be dissapointed.

-Do you have any favorites from this year’s Eesti Laul? Do you feel threatened by someone?

-I like Merilin Mälk’s song the most. I can’t really say it depends on their performances.

– Which is your favorite Estonian entry from Eurovision?

-Stig Rästa and Elina Born “Goodbye to yesterday” and Ott Leppland “Kuula”

-Which is your favorite Eurovision 2021 entry?

-Italy obviously. They were so rebellious!

-Have you ever visited Greece?

-I haven’t visited Greece but it is one of my biggest dreams to come and see this wonderful place. But I have tasted Greek food and it is outstanding!

Stefan, thank you very much! Good luck to you and we “Hope” to see you in Turin!

-Thank you very much! All the best!

Stay tuned to Eurovisionfun for all news related to Estonian participation in Eurovision 2022!

The interview was given to Apostolis Matamis.
