Eurovision 2022: Three countries are recording their live-on-tape performance in Belgrade!

Serbia, North Macedonia and Montenegro are recording their backup performances for Eurovision Song Contest 2022, today in Belgrade.

After Pesma Za Evroviziju ’22, hosted last night by RTS, the contest’s stage was used for recording the live-on-tape videos for Serbia, North Macedonia and Montenegro.

The artists that record their backup performances there, are:

  • Vladana – “Breathe”
  • Andrea – “Circles”
  • Konstrakta – “In Corpore Sano”

What is a live-on-tape video?

In 2021 the 39 participants had to record a backup performance as one of the many safety measures that EBU set in order to ensure that the contest could take place in May, no matter the course of the pandemic.

Each country could rehearse for as long as they wished for the performance of the live-on-tape. However, three performances in the time of an hour were eligible to be part of the tape that EBU would see. The competing countries could choose whichever of the three performances they wanted to use. Live-on-tape performances did not have to be the same as the scheduled performances for Eurovision.

Live-on-tape performances were shown a week after Eurovision 2021, as a way to show all the hard work of the contestants who had to create an extra performance.
