Iceland: RÚV confirms participation in Eurovision 2023 and reveals details for Söngvakeppnin 2023!

The Icelandic Public Broadcaster RÚV, confirmed earlier today that Iceland will participate in Eurovision 2023, and it’s entry will be chosen through the annual television show, Söngvakeppnin

Submissions for potential entries for Söngvakeppnin 2023 are open until October 4th and those interested can submit through songvakeppnin.is.

Ten songs will be chosen by a jury panel to compete in two semi-finals. Each semi-final will feature five songs, with two being chosen by the public to go into the final and one being chosen by a jury. In the final, a 50% jury vote and 50% televote will determine the two acts to advance to the superfinal, with the winner being decided by televote only. The semi-finals will take place on February 18th and 25th, and the final will be on Saturday, March 4th.

The ten competing songs will be revealed on January.

Iceland was represented in Eurovision 2022 by Systur and the song “Með hækkandi sól” coming 23rd with 20 points.
