Just a while ago Romania’s public broadcaster, TVR, published the rules of Selecția Națională 2023, the country’s national final to select their representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2023.

Only 12 songs will take part in the one-night contest, in which the winner and Romania’s representative in Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool, will be decided by public vote alone.

The submission window for songs for Selecția Națională 2023 will be open from November 14 to December 11. After this deadline, a jury panel will select the 12 best songs, while the artists competing in Selecția Națională 2023 will be announced on December 17.

Selecția Națională 2023 will take place in February 11, with the Romanian viewers being the only ones who will vote, either by sms votes or via online voting.

Both Romanians but also foreign citizens can take part in the contest without any restrection on the nationality of the composer or the singer(s) of a song.

The previous winner of Selecția Națională and Romania’s representative in Eurovision 2022 was WRS with the song “Llámame“ and ended up in 18th place in the Grand Final, while also bringing his country back to the final after three consequtive non-qualifications.
