Malta: MESC 2023 Third Quarter Final tonight!

The process of selecting Malta‘s representative for Eurovision 2023 continues tonight, as the third qualifying round of the Maltese national selection will take place.

The Mediterranean country is choosing for the second year in a row the format of a national final in order to decide on the artist who will represent it at the Eurovision Song Contest. Forty artists are vying to represent Malta through five shows: three quarter-finals, one semi-final and the grand final.

Tonight concludes the quarter-final stage, where the 24 semi-finalists will be announced at the end of the evening. We remind you that in the first two quarter-finals of the two previous weeks, the names of the artists who got the “ticket” for next Friday’s semi-final were not announced.

Tonight’s Participants

Fourteen artists compete in tonight’s third MESC 2023 quarter-final, vying for one of eight “tickets” to appear in the semi-final stage of the Maltese national selection. These artists are:

  1. Andre’ – “Broken Hill”
  2. Bradley Debono – “Blackout”
  3. Cheryl Balzan – “La La Land”
  4. Chris Grech – “Indescribable”
  5. Dominic and Anna “Whatever Wind May Blow”
  6. Giada “I Depend on You”
  7. Greta Tude – “Sound of My Stilettos”
  8. Jake – “Love You Like That”
  9. James Louis “Dream”
  10. Jessika – “Unapologetic”
  11. John Galea – “Trailblazer”
  12. Maria Christina – “Our Flame”
  13. Ryan Hili – “In the Silence”
  14. Stefan “Heartbreaker”

The decision on the eight contestants to continue their journey to MESC 2023 will be made jointly by the Maltese public and a panel of judges.

The three qualifying rounds of MESC 2023 are presented by Ryan and Josmar.

Until we know who will represent Malta at Eurovision 2023, let’s remember the country’s participation in last year’s competition. Last year’s MESC winner was Emma Muscat with “Out of Sight”. She finally represented Malta at Eurovision 2022 with the song “I Am what I Am” without being able to qualify for the Grand Final finishing in 16th place in the second semi-final with 47 points:
