The show

Jesper Rönndahl and Farah Abadi will present Melodifestivalen 2023. The heats followed the touring concept again, after SVT had pulled back last year due to health restrictions in Sweden! With the next and final show of the contest on Saturday March the 11th, Melodifestivalen will take place in Stockholm, at friends arena.

Sami Rekik, member of the famous Swedish duo and last year’s contestants Medina, opens the final show presenting the contestants while an Ethnic/Balcan remix of Stefania was playing! Everyone is dancing!

The Process

During the artists’ performances, viewers will get the chance to give five hearts (votes) for each competing act. After the international jury reveal their vote, viewers will get another round of five hearts (votes) per artist.

The finalists:

  1. Where You Are (Sávežan)” – Jon Henrik Fjällgren, Arc North feat. Adam Woods

They started as a big favourite for the win, they are no more, but that doesn’t mean that the crowd doesn’t love them! Lovely performance, amazing vocals including the Joik part! Will it score high tomorrow? Let’s see!

  1. Rhythm Of My Show” – Tone Sekelius

Tone Sekelius is the fire herself! Some changes to the hair, but other than that a super hot performance! She will do great, somehow like last year! Lykke til Tone!

  1. One Day” – Mariette

Spot on vocals! Lovely Mariette with a lovely song and an aesthetically pleasing performance! She will do great in older voting age-groups! I can’t foresee how she’s gonna do at the international jury vote!

  1. Air” – Marcus & Martinus

I can’t be objective! It is 100% my style of music but I’m not gonna start fangirling! Their vocals sound so much better than the studio version! Their performance is captivating! Top three for sure! The audience was taking videos with their phones and cheered so hard!

  1. On My Way” – Panetoz

I can’t say a lot, but the entire crowd is dancing on this song! Myself included, holding onto my laptop and dancing! Hope they do well. As Marcus & Martinus said, an underrated number!

  1. Never Give Up” – Maria Sur

As she has uploaded on her socials, she participated at Melodifestivalen and came through to the finals! But then, Loreen happened! She has an amazing voice and her performance is crazy! She will do great, possibly top 5!

  1. Six Feet Under” – Smash Into Pieces

What can I say about these guys? They were stranded in Amsterdam due to a blizzard and managed to arrive right on time for the Melodifestivalen final! The crowd went nuts!  They can totally pull a top three placement!

  1. Where Did You Go” – Kiana

She is an amazing artist and for sure she will come back at Melodifestivalen! She has an amazing voice and she is only 16 years old! Well done Kiana! She will do great for a debutant tomorrow I reckon!

  1. Släpp alla sorger” – Nordman

Potentially, I could relate to this song. It is totally the genre of music that I could listen to. I think it’s just that I can’t relate to the Swedish lyrics. Other than that, the performance is captivating. They will do good, not great!

  1. Tattoo” – Loreen

I will only say two words: Winning performance. Sorry, gotta go. Got to enjoy my girl!

  1. Mer av dig” – THEOZ

THEOZ changed his jacket. From Green to Red. Is red going to be his lucky charm? He will do good, hope he does better than last year. Theres pyro and fireworks too. I totally shit myself!

  1. Royals” – Paul Rey

Another underrated number in my honest opinion. The song is catchy, has an amazing staging and has great vibes! I hope he does well! The crowd loved him!

After all the numbers are complete, a recap follows as usual to allow the viewers to vote for their personal favourite.

Intervals

Before the second voting round starts, the song “Lyssna Till Ditt Hjärta” plays but now the group FRIENDS shows up on stage and sings it live! Farah Abadi and Linda Bengtzing in the background, wearing the heart costume do the distinctive choreography!

During Saturday’s final, it is Danny Saucedo who is the last to join the star collection that this year will become part of the Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame, so he sings a medley of his songs, wearing a wig that takes off at the end of his performance!
