The city of Stockholm submits an expression of interest to host next year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
Behind the decision is the Red-Green majority of the left and centre-left Swedish political parties, which, however, have certain reservations, says finance councilor Karin Wanngård in a press release.
In order for the city of Stockholm to be able to shoulder the hosting, the costs are required to be financed in collaborations between SVT, the government, surrounding municipalities, the region and private financiers.
Karin Wanngård also emphasizes that the state must take responsibility for the event’s security, but also that next year’s Eurovision must be characterized by “sustainability and climate awareness”.
