Latvia: Tonight the final of Supernova 2024!

Another country, which selects tonight its representative in Eurovision 2024 is Latvia. Supernova culminates tonight and in a few hours from now we will find out another of the contestants in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest.

Final

Ten artists will perform on the stage of Supernova 2024 tonight, aiming to represent the Baltic country in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest. The artists competing tonight are:

  1. Vēstulēs – “Kur?”
  2. Avéi – “Mine”
  3. Papīra Lidmašīnas – “Mind Breaker”
  4. Katrīna Gupalo – “The Cat’s Song”
  5. Ecto – “Outsider”
  6. Dons – “Hollow”
  7. St Levića – “Tick Tock”
  8. Edvards Strazdiņš – “Rock n’ Roll Supernova”
  9. Funkinbiz – “Na Chystu Vodu”
  10. Alekss Silvers – “For the Show”

The final result will be determined by a combination of the Latvian viewers’ vote and the vote of the jury appointed by the Latvian public broadcaster. In this way, the grand winner of Supernova 2024 and, at the same time, Latvia‘s representative in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest will emerge.

The show

For the third consecutive year, Supernova will be hosted by the duo of Ketija Šēnberga and Lauris Reiniks. Ketija, an experienced presenter, will take on this role for the seventh time (previously in 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023). Lauris, who represented Latvia in the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest as a member of F.L.Y. (Hello From Mars), will return as host for the third time (previously in 2022 and 2023).

Guests in Latvia’s grand final will be the Estonian representative in last year’s Eurovision Song Contest, Alika, and Gabrieļus Vagelis, who participated several times in the Lithuanian national selection.

The final of Supernova 2024 starts at 20:10 CET and can be watched through the first channel of Latvian public broadcaster, by clicking HERE.

Latvia: The running order of the Grand Final of Supernova 2024!

Today, the national broadcaster of Latvia LTV revealed the running order of the Grand Final of Supernova 2024 that will take place this Saturday, 10th of February.

 

The running order of the ten artists that will compete to claim a ticket for Eurovision 2024 in Malmö‎‎ is:

  1. Vēstulēs – “Kur?”
  2. Avéi – “Mine”
  3. Papīra Lidmašīnas – “Mind Breaker”
  4. Katrīna Gupalo – “The Cat’s Song”
  5. Ecto – “Outsider”
  6. Dons – “Hollow”
  7. St Levića – “Tick Tock”
  8. Edvards Strazdiņš – “Rock n’ Roll Supernova”
  9. Funkinbiz – “Na Chystu Vodu”
  10. Alekss Silvers – “For the Show”

Special Guests for the Latvian National Final will be the Estonian representative in Eurovision 2023 Alika and Gabrieļus Vagelis who tried many attempts to represent Lithuania to the contest.

 

The winner of Supernova 2024 will be decided by a combination of the Latvian viewers‘ vote and the vote of the jury appointed by the Latvian Public Broadcaster.

Latvia will compete at the second half of the second semi-final in 9th of May.

The previous winners of Supernova and Latvia’s representatives in Eurovision 2023, were Sudden Lights, with the song “Aijā”, who ended up in 11th place of the First Semi-Final. Will Latvia manage to get a place in the Final after six years?

Latvia: The results of the semi-final of Supernova 2024!

The semi-final of Latvia’s national final, Supernova 2024, was completed a few minutes ago and the ten finalists were decided. After six consecutive non-qualifications and after last year’s 11th place in the semi-final, Latvia will once again try to advance to the Grand Final, and get a great result, after many years.

A total of fifteen contestants competed in the semi-final, claiming the ten tickets for next Saturday’s Grand Final. Ketija Šēnberga and Lauris Reiniks were the hosts of the evening.

After the end of the competitive place of the semi-final, the hosts announced that it’s time for the Latvian public to start voting, while in the meantime, they interviewed the contestants, live on stage.

The results were once again decided by public and jury vote, at a rate of 50% each. After the performances, the votes were counted and the ten qualifiers are:

Another country, which starts its Eurovision “journey” to nominate its representative for Eurovision 2024, is Latvia tonight. Supernova begins and in a few hours from now we will find out the ten artists who will qualify for the final of the Latvian national selection next Saturday.

Semi-final

Fifteen artists will perform on the Supernova 2024 stage tonight, aiming to qualify for next week’s grand final, which will bring them one step closer to representing the Baltic country in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest. The artists competing tonight are:

Among the 15 artists we see well-known names such as Latvia’s biggest pop star Dons who will participate for the third time in Supernova and Agnese Rakovska who represented her country in 2017 with the band Triana Park. Other artists who have participated in previous Supernova are Alekss Silvers, Avéi and Katrīna Gupalo.

The ten finalists will be decided by a combination of the Latvian viewers‘ vote and the vote of the jury appointed by the Latvian Public Broadcaster. Agnese Rakovska: “It would be a lie if I didn’t want to return to Εurovision!” | Interview

Agnese Rakovska represented Latvia in 2017, as part of the band Triana Park and the song “Line”. This year the successful singer decided to return to the national final of the country Supernova and spoke about everything to Apostolis and Eurovisionfun!

How about the staging of Supernova 2024?

“The color blue will dominate, as for me it represents hope and peace! For now I’m thinking of being alone on stage without unnecessary things!”

In her music education program, she organizes music camps for songwriting. That’s where the idea for her participation song was born and she revealed to us that although she didn’t intend to perform the song herself at the beginning, she didn’t manage to find the right person and so she returns to the Supernova stage!

Her experience at Eurovision 2017!

“It’s a crazy trip! That’s why Loreen came back. It would be a lie if I didn’t want to return to this scene. It’s something you conquer because only the best appear on that stage.”

From this year’s participations of Supernova, she has heard only three songs and among them is “Hollow” by Dons, whom he characterized as a very charismatic voice of the country.

“Bet and predictions don’t matter! In 2017 nobody expected Salvador Sobral to win and yet he went on stage alone, sang and won!”

Eurovision 2024: The Semi-Final Allocation Draw Results!

Malmö with a very nice event hosted a few minutes ago the draw for the semi-finals of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest.

The analyzes of the fans and not only, have been on fire for a few minutes now. Since the theories based on the pre-history of the countries in the competition, it is a first insight into how passable the qualification to the final is or not. In other words, it’s time to make our predictions, about who will go through to the final and who are the favorites to say goodbye to Malmö early…

The presenters and the handover ceremony

Presenters of the Eurovision 2024 semi-final draw were Pernilla Månsson Colt and Farah Abadi. It is worth mentioning that Pernilla Månsson Colt was also the presenter of the corresponding draw in 2013, eleven years ago when Malmö hosted the Eurovision Song Contest for the last time. Both of them are part of the SVT staff, being some of the most beloved faces of the Swedish state broadcaster.

During the draw, the ceremony of handing over and accepting the emblem of the contest took place. The mayor of Liverpool, Steven Rotheram, formally handed over the “keys to the event” to the mayor of Malmö, Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh.

Draw Procedure

Big 5 and Sweden

With the big winner of last year’s competition, Sweden, directly in the final, along with the Big 5 (UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain), the first part of the draw determined the semi-final that the direct finalists would vote for.

In the semi-final that the six aforementioned countries were drawn to broadcast and vote for, the video from their dress rehearsal will also be shown. This was done at Eurovision 2016 for the first time, for reasons of equal exposure of the countries directly in the final and the countries that qualify from the semi-finals. Essentially, viewers see each entry twice during the shows.

Semi-Final Allocation Draw

The allocation draw for the two semi-finals had two parts. In the first part the 31 countries participating in the semi-finals were drawn in which of the two they will compete in. Fifteen countries will compete in the first semi-final and sixteen in the second semi-final.

In the second part, each country learned whether it will appear in the first or second half of the semi-final in which it will compete. The exact order of appearance will be determined by the EBU and the show’s producers at a later date.

On February 3, the semi-final of Supernova 2024, the national final of Latvia, will take place. 15 artists will win the ticket for the Grand Final, to fight it out for the country’s representation in Eurovision 2024!

The public will have the chance to meet the contestants and evaluate their performances for the first time in the semi-final, with Ketija Šēnberga and Lauris Reiniks as the hosts of the night. Eurovision 2024: Tonight the Allocation Draw!

At 19:00 CET and live from Malmö, Sweden, the draw for the Eurovision 2024 semi-finals will take place tonight.

During today’s event, there will also be a handover of the event’s banner from the city of Liverpool to the city of Malmö. For this reason, both the Mayor of Liverpool, Steven Rotheram, and the Mayor of the Swedish city, Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh, will be present at today’s draw.

The hosts

The hosts of tonight’s draw for the semi-finals of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest will be Pernilla Månsson Colt and Farah Abadi. It is worth mentioning that Pernilla Månsson Colt was the presenter of the equivalent draw in 2013, eleven years ago when Malmö hosted the Eurovision Song Contest for the last time.

The draw procedure

The first part of the draw will determine which semi-final will be broadcast and voted for by each of the six countries that are directly in the final on 11 May (Sweden, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom).

The second part of the draw will determine which semi-final and which half the other 31 participating countries will compete in. As in recent years, the exact order of appearance will be determined by the event producers at a later date.

The 31 countries have been divided into five pots, based on historical voting patterns as calculated by Eurovision’s official voting partner, Digame.

Drawing countries from different pots aims to reduce the likelihood of so-called neighbour voting and increases the suspense in the semi-finals.

Eurovision 2024: The Semi-final allocation pots!

The Semi-Final Allocation Draw 2024 will take place tomorrow Tuesday 30 January at 19:00 CET live from Malmo, alongside a ceremony which sees the Host City insignia pass from previous hosts Liverpool to Malmo.

The draw will be hosted by Pernilla Månsson Colt and Farah Abadi and fans will be able to watch on the official Eurovision YouTube channel.

The Allocation Draw will determine whether countries participate in the First Semi-Final (Tuesday 7 May at 21:00 CEST) or the Second Semi-Final (Thursday 9 May at 21:00 CEST). Also randomly allocated is whether a country will perform in the first or second half of the Semi-Final they’ve drawn.

Semi-Final Allocation Draw: How does it work?

Sweden as the Host Country and reigning champion respectively, along with the other 6 members of the so-called ‘Big 6’ participating countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom) do not compete in the Semi-Finals, but their domestic audiences do get to vote in one of them… so before the competing countries are allocated a place in a Semi-Final, it will be randomly determined which of the Semi-Finals the Big 6 will each be allowed to vote on.

The next part of the draw will determine in which Semi-Final and in which half of the respective Semi-Final the other 31 participating countries will perform in.
