San Marino: Loredana Bertè with “Pazza” at Una Voce per San Marino!

SMRTV, the Sanmarinese national broadcaster, revealed the list of the nine established artists who will participate at Una Voce per San Marino 2024 and it spread a feeling of surprise among the fans. One of these artists will be Loredana Bertè with her song “Pazza“, with which she also took part at this year’s Sanremo.

According to the announcement of SMRTV, the negotiations with Loredana began a few days ago and it is still not completely confirmed whether she will appear at Una Voce per San Marino. In case Loredana does not participate eventually, she will not be replaced by another artist.

If all goes well and Loredana does in fact, take part in the Sanmarinese national final, she will do so with her Sanremo song “Pazza”, which brought her, finally, to the seventh (7th) place of the Festival.

Besides, Malmö has a strong emotional value for Loredana as a city, because it is where her sister Mia Martini -who is no longer alive-, represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1992 with “Rapsodia” and ended up forth (4th).

It is noted that the Grand Final of Una Voce per San Marino is set to air on February 24th in Teatro Nuovo of Dogana.

The original plan was the eight reknown artists to be announced on different days, and the first established artist was scheduled to be revealed on February 13th, as we informed you in our previous article.

So the eight established artists who are going to participate in the final of Una Voce per San Marino 2024 are going to be announced on Monday 19 February during a press conference in Milan. 129 emerging artists are going to compete in the semi-finals of the San Marino national selection for Malmö, of which eight will advance to the Grand Final. San Marino: Fans request San Marino RTV to consider Annalisa or Mahmood for Eurovision | The first established artist for UVPSM 2024 will be revealed tomorrow!

The most successful edition of Festival de Sanremo in many years saw its conclusion past Saturday. While, Angelina Mango won the big prize and will therefore represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, she was not the only contestant to draw the audience’s attention.

Except for Angelina Mango, Eurovision fans went crazy for Annalisa’s entry as well as Mahmood’s entry, who has already participated at the Eurovision Song Contest twice. Annalisa finished third overall with her song “Sinceramente“, while Mahmood placed sixth, just outside the top five with “Tuta Gold“. Mahmood and Annalisa are both well-liked by Eurovision fans, who expected their Sanremo 2024 entries to do well on the Eurovision stage.

A request to San Marino RTV

Hence and since they are not able to represent Italy this year, Eurovision fans request San Marino RTV via social media to approach them and send them to Eurovision. In reality, aside from Mahmood, Annalisa has tried her luck in Sanremo numerous times and has failed to win the big prize, so many Eurovision fans who wish to see her in Eurovision believe that representing San Marino may be her last chance.

Indicatively, some of the tweets posted mention that:

“It would be wonderful if San Marino RTV brought @NaliOfficial [Annalisa] to #Eurovision2024”.

“Annalisa please go to the Eurovision with San Marino and win, giving everyone a humiliation!”

“So how do we send Mahmood to compete in Eurovision with San Marino?! @SanMarino_RTV don’t you want to take revenge and win this festival?!”

“I would like to remind San Marino that Annalisa and Mahmood may be available and that they are ready to give us, rightly, the xxxx”

San Marino’s response and the reveal of the established artists for UVPSM 2024

The Secretary of State for Tourism, Federico Pedini Amati spoke to San Marino RTV about the afore-mentioned issue. According to him:

Why not? Anyone can register, the contest is open to everyone, not just those who were in Sanremo. We expect some news. Then we talk about Annalisa, Mahmood or others… I have heard that someone might be really interested and tomorrow we will be able to know more.

It’s not one of these two so we spoil this possibility but if they arrived we would be really very happy . But I’m not saying this because they are singers that we have seen at the Festival now, but because they are very famous singers who would honor and greatly raise the level of our contest too.

Hence, tomorrow the first established artist who will compete in UVPSM 2024 will be revealed.

In case San Marino takes into consideration the fans’ desire, it will not be the first time that a Sanremo participant takes the Eurovision stage representing San Marino. In 2022, Achille Lauro represented San Marino in Turin with his song “Stripper“. A couple weeks prior “Una Voce per San Marino” final, Achille participated in Festival di Sanremo, finishing fourteenth.

Una Voce per San Marino 2024

129 emerging artists will compete in the semi-finals of the Sanmarinese national selection for Malmö, out of which eight will advance to the Grand Final. Those eight artists will be joined in the final by eight artists selected and invited by RTV as established artists. The semi-finals for the emerging artists will take place on February 15 and 16 and will be broadcasted from February 19 to February 23.

The Grand Final of UVPSM 2024 will take place on February 24 at Teatro Nuovo di Dogana and the winner of the selection will therefore have the right to represent the nation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö in terms of meeting the criteria of eligibility of RTV.

Despite this marathon session of a national selection, Piqued Jacks, UVPSM 2023 winners, did not manage to qualify to the Grand Final, finishing dead least with nul points.

San Marino: Listen to the four songs of the finalists of Casperaki!

As we have already informed you in a previous article, the Sanmarinese broadcaster RTV decided to join forces with the Casperaki startup in order to produce songs with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The song produced with the aforementioned process would be chosen by an artist and ultimately, compete to Una Voce per San Marino 2024, San Marino’s national selection.

Today, Casperaki unveiled the four predominant songs:

These artists will fight for a ticket for the final of Una Voce per San Marino 2024, in order to compete with other seven finalists and one of them, will fly the country’s flag on the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

We remind you that the final of Una Voce per San Marino 2024 is set to take place on February 24th at Teatro Nuovo in Dogana. A total of 16-20 artists will participate in the final and 8-12 of them will come from the category of “emerging artists”, while the remaining eight will be chosen from the broadcaster, RTV, under the category of “established artists”. Moreover, Al Bano will be the president of the jury during the final.

Piqued Jacks, last year’s Una Voce per San Marino winners, did not manage to qualify to the Grand Final of Eurovision 2023 and ended up at the very last place of the Semi Final with zero points.

Eurovision 2024: The Semi-Final Allocation Draw Results!

Malmö with a very nice event hosted a few minutes ago the draw for the semi-finals of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest.

The analyzes of the fans and not only, have been on fire for a few minutes now. Since the theories based on the pre-history of the countries in the competition, it is a first insight into how passable the qualification to the final is or not. In other words, it’s time to make our predictions, about who will go through to the final and who are the favorites to say goodbye to Malmö early…

The presenters and the handover ceremony

Presenters of the Eurovision 2024 semi-final draw were Pernilla Månsson Colt and Farah Abadi. It is worth mentioning that Pernilla Månsson Colt was also the presenter of the corresponding draw in 2013, eleven years ago when Malmö hosted the Eurovision Song Contest for the last time. Both of them are part of the SVT staff, being some of the most beloved faces of the Swedish state broadcaster.

During the draw, the ceremony of handing over and accepting the emblem of the contest took place. The mayor of Liverpool, Steven Rotheram, formally handed over the “keys to the event” to the mayor of Malmö, Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh.

Draw Procedure

Big 5 and Sweden

With the big winner of last year’s competition, Sweden, directly in the final, along with the Big 5 (UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain), the first part of the draw determined the semi-final that the direct finalists would vote for.

Will vote in the 1st Semi-Final:

  • Sweden
  • United Kingdom
  • Germany

Will vote in the 2nd Semi-Final:

  • Spain
  • Italy
  • France

In the semi-final that the six aforementioned countries were drawn to broadcast and vote for, the video from their dress rehearsal will also be shown. This was done at Eurovision 2016 for the first time, for reasons of equal exposure of the countries directly in the final and the countries that qualify from the semi-finals. Essentially, viewers see each entry twice during the shows.

Semi-Final Allocation Draw

The allocation draw for the two semi-finals had two parts. In the first part the 31 countries participating in the semi-finals were drawn in which of the two they will compete in. Fifteen countries will compete in the first semi-final and sixteen in the second semi-final.

In the second part, each country learned whether it will appear in the first or second half of the semi-final in which it will compete. The exact order of appearance will be determined by the EBU and the show’s producers at a later date.

1st Semi-final (May 7):

1st Half

  • Ukraine
  • Cyprus
  • Poland
  • Serbia
  • Lithuania
  • Croatia
  • Ireland

2nd Half

  • Slovenia
  • Iceland
  • Finland
  • Portugal
  • Luxembourg
  • Australia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Moldova

2nd Semi-Final (May 9):

1st Half

  • Austria
  • Malta
  • Switzerland
  • Greece
  • Czechia
  • Albania
  • Denmark
  • Armenia

2nd Half

  • Israel
  • Estonia
  • Georgia
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Latvia
  • San Marino
  • Belgium

Malmö will host the 68th Eurovision Song Contest from 7 to 11 May at the Malmö Arena. The motto of this year’s event, as chosen by the organisers, is “United by Music“, retaining the motto first chosen for last year’s contest in Liverpool.

SMRTV, the public broadcaster of San Marino announced the allocation of the 80 artists competing in the semi-finals of Una Voce per San Marino, in a special press conference. Read more

Eurovision 2024: Tonight the Allocation Draw!

At 19:00 CET and live from Malmö, Sweden, the draw for the Eurovision 2024 semi-finals will take place tonight.

During today’s event, there will also be a handover of the event’s banner from the city of Liverpool to the city of Malmö. For this reason, both the Mayor of Liverpool, Steven Rotheram, and the Mayor of the Swedish city, Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh, will be present at today’s draw.

The hosts

The hosts of tonight’s draw for the semi-finals of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest will be Pernilla Månsson Colt and Farah Abadi. It is worth mentioning that Pernilla Månsson Colt was the presenter of the equivalent draw in 2013, eleven years ago when Malmö hosted the Eurovision Song Contest for the last time.

The draw procedure

The first part of the draw will determine which semi-final will be broadcast and voted for by each of the six countries that are directly in the final on 11 May (Sweden, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom).

The second part of the draw will determine which semi-final and which half the other 31 participating countries will compete in. As in recent years, the exact order of appearance will be determined by the event producers at a later date.

The 31 countries have been divided into five pots, based on historical voting patterns as calculated by Eurovision’s official voting partner, Digame.

Drawing countries from different pots aims to reduce the likelihood of so-called neighbour voting and increases the suspense in the semi-finals.
