Less than a week ago, AMPTV revealed that Ladaniva will serve as the country’s representatives in Eurovision 2024, confirming the corresponding rumors.

According to David Tserunyan, Armenia’s Head of Delegation:

This year we’re thrilled to present a unique and multi-cultural entry that will make everyone dance their hearts out and carry a meaningful message with a fun and light spirit! […] you will hear the story of a free girl – breaking societal stereotypes.

Ladaniva were selected internally. There was no information about Armenia’s selection method for Eurovision 2024, though.

Who are Ladaniva?

Ladaniva is made up of Armenian vocalist Jaklin Baghdasaryan and French multi-instrumentalist Louis Thomas. With their music, the pair embody a vibrant blend of Armenian folk with global musical influences.

From traditional Balkan melodies to the rhythms of maloya, jazz and reggae, the duo’s songs have been said to transcend borders, blending traditional Armenian tunes with inspirations drawn from their extensive travels across Latin America, Africa and Reunion Island. Ladaniva’s music is a reflection of their diverse backgrounds and insatiable curiosity for world cultures.

The name Ladaniva has been inspired by an off-road retro car brand, symbolising the band’s adventurous spirit and their journey through different cultures and traditions. Jaklin and Louis accidentally found out that both of their fathers owned the same car while living in Armenia and France, and ‘voilà’ – they had their band name.

Founded in 2019, Ladaniva initially gained viral acclaim with their hit song Vay Aman, showcasing their fresh style and innovative approach to world music. The group released their eponymous debut album under the French label PIAS in 2023.

Armenia is allocated to perform in the second half of the second semi-final on May 9.

As you can see from the images, the audience will be right in the middle of the action, with our participants performing directly in front of them on a centre stage.

David Tserunyan, the executive producer of Junior Eurovision 2022, explained:

“The stage is a creative visual representation of the official artwork. The centre stage is the spinning top surrounded by strings of light that represent the ‘spinning’. These colourful strings are also reflected above the stage and radiate the energy from every single performance.  While being minimalist, yet technologically advanced, the stage design offers multiple staging possibilities for all of the performers.”

“Our goal was to create a modern and technologically advanced stage that both reflects our vision and is versatile enough to fit the creative needs of the participating broadcasters. Armenia: Rosa Linn’s song will be released on March 19!

AMPTV has just announced that Rosa Linn will represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. Her song with the official music video will be released on March 19.

Who is Rosa Linn?

Rosa Linn (Rosa Kostandyan) is a 21 years old singer living and working in Vanadzor, whom the American “Flaunt” magazine called the top female music producer in Armenia. Her debut song is a collaboration with the famous singer Kiiara. She is one of the first artists of  Nvak Collective, pronounced (“nuh-vaak”, which means music in Armenian) a US-based record label. Nvak Collective was Co-Founded by the representative of Armenia at Eurovision 2015, American-Armenian singer-songwriter, Tamar Kaprelian and record producer, Alex Salibian.  Her style is characterized as a mix of 80s and 90s alternative indie pop. Her latest single titled “King” counts over 200 thousand views on YouTube and is a representative sample of the sound she stands for.

It should be reminded that “Eurovision” will take place in Turin, Italy, on May 10, 12 and 14. The representative of Armenia will perform in the second half of the first semifinal.

Last year, Armenia did not participate in the contest due to the post-war situation, lack of time and other objective reasons, and in 2020 the Greek-Armenian singer Athena Manoukian was the country’s delegate, but the contest was cancelled due to the coronavirus.

Armenia: Details about the internal selection, just before the official announcements!

According to hraparak.am, two singers are in contention to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. The outlet revealed them – their names are Rosa Linn and Saro Gevorgyan.

Pursuant to the rumours, Rosa Linn’s song was written by herself, the team of Tamar Kaprelian worked on the arrangement. The singer is signed to Warner Chappell Music and she’s part of Nvak Collective.

Saro’s song was written by Tokionine. The songwriter previously wrote ‘Walking Out’ by Srbuk, ‘Why’ and the JESC 2021 winning song ‘Qami Qami’. His song is reportedly called ‘I’m falling for you’ (or ‘Dance’). It’s techno, reminiscent of The Weeknd songs.

A song was also sent by Athena Manoukian, but she was eliminated in the first stage of the internal selection. Rumours also tell that Gor Sujyan (Dorians), Artem Valter (he revamped Athena’s ‘Chains On You’) and Miriam (she took part in DE 2020) submitted songs but were eliminated later as well.
