Eurovision 2023: The betting odds for the Semi-Finals!

After the official release of all 37 entries for Eurovision 2023, betting companies have opened for both semi-finals and the chances of qualifying for this year’s event!

For a long time now, through Eurovisionfun we have been informing you about the betting analysis for the 67th Eurovision Song Contest, through your favorite column that will continue until the night of the grand final for 2023!

First Semifinal

The first and for many the most difficult semi-final, shows the clear lead of Scandinavia with an absolute probability of qualification, which exceeds 90%! The Netherlands and Croatia seem to have marginal qualification for the first semi-final, with Portugal, being a breath away from them. Unfortunately, in the last place of the betting companies seems to be Ireland with only a 19% chance of qualifying.

Second Semi-Final

The second semi-final, which for many is characterized as the easiest for this year’s competition, may be the one that will hide the most surprises! At the top for qualification from the second semi-final we see Austria, Armenia and Georgia with more than 80% chances of qualification. Belgium seems to have marginal qualification, as its odds are very close to those of Poland, which is currently in 11th place. In the last places, without being a particular surprise, we find San Marino and Romania with 25% and 24% chances of qualifying respectively.

Italy: The first betting odds of Sanremo 2023!

The 73rd Sanremo Song Festival will be held in February, but the betting companies, shortly after the announcement of the competing artists, have already given the first odds on the winner, who will probably also be the representative of Italy in Eurovision 2023.

The big favorite seems to be Ultimo, who was also the favorite and came very close to the victory of Sanremo 2019. At that time he even won the televote in the final stage of the festival with a percentage of 49%, compared to only 21% collected by Mahmood, who however secured his victory thanks to the support of the juries.

The popular artist Marco Mengoni, winner of Sanremo and Italy’s representative at Eurovision 2013, follows with a small margin, while a victory seems also possible for the legend of the Italian music industry, Giorgia, and the fan favorites, Elodie and Madame.

See the betting odds in detail:

Of course, all of the above are subject to change, once the journalists exclusively listen and review the participating songs.

For the analysis of the participating artists in Sanremo 2023 you can read our article.

We remind you that Festival di Sanremo 2023 will be held from the 7th to the 11th of February. In addition to the above artists, the top six ranked artists in Sanremo Giovani, which will be held on December 12, will also win a place among the Big of Festival di Sanremo in February.

Last year’s winners of Festival di Sanremo, Mahmood & Blanco, went on to represent host country Italy at Eurovision 2022 with their song “Brividi”. They managed to bring their country to the top 10 of the Grand Final for the second year in a row, finishing in 6th place:

Who do you think will succeed Mahmood & Blanco and represent Italy in Liverpool in 2023? Stay tuned to Eurovisionfun for all the developments regarding Sanremo 2023 and the Italian participation!

Eurovision 2023: Glasgow is bookies’ heavy favourite to host the Contest!

Following the BBC’s announcement of the shortlist of cities on 12th August, one aspirant organising city has become bookies’ absolute favourite to host ESC. Glasgow, albeit being ahead of competition from the very beginning, has now managed to crystallise its position, according to the betting odds, securing an overwhelming 52% chance of holding the event!

Interestingly, Glasgow has more than doubled its chances to host ESC since August the 11th, a day before the official announcement of the shortlisted cities. Birmingham and Manchester are the bookies’ second and third favourite, with 17% and 11% chance of hosting ESC respectively, having no considerable fluctuations in the betting odds over the last three weeks.

However, the Host City bid race is far from over. The seven shortlisted cities have now entered the first stage of the two stage bidding process. In the second stage, the cities will be narrowed down to two, and one will prevail and take over hosting duties from Turin, ESC 2022 Host City.

Have the bookies correctly predicted the Eurovision 2023 Host City? Which other city could possibly intercept Glasgow’s victorious course?

Sweden: The betting odds, just a few moments before the first Melodifestivalen 2022 semi-final results!

Melodifestivalen 2022 has already began, with the first semi-final and the new competition and voting format in place, already being aired on SVT and SVT Play. Seven contestants will have to compete against each other tonight, in order to secure one of the direct finalist places, or if not directly qualifying to the finals, claiming their ticket for the fifth semi-final, as their last chance in the hopes of competing at the finals.

Tonight’s contestants

  1. Malou Prytz  - Bananas
  2. THEOZ  - Som du vill
  3. Shirley Clamp   - Let there be Angels
  4. Omar Rudberg  - Moving Like That
  5. Danne Stråhed  - Hallabaloo
  6. Cornelia Jakobs  - Hold Me Closer
  7. Robin Bengtsson   - Innocent Love

The odds

The betting odds depend on many factors and as these factors are subject to changes anytime, the odds can still fluctuate, even last minute. Currently there seem to be two clear direct finalists and these are Robin Bengtsson and Cornelia Jakobs.

As for the two fifth semi-final’s qualifiers, we might have quite a close combat between some of the artists. Currently, in the third and fourth place of the betting odds we have Theoz and Omar Rudberg.

This will not be a surprise at all, as these two young artists are massive influencers in Sweden and also Omar has had global success last summer in 2021, with him starring at the Netflix hit series “Young Royals“. Sadly, Malou Prytz is unlucky for one more year. Maybe she gets lucky and it happens sometime in the future.

Let’s see what is going to happen, we will get the chance to watch the actual semi final live, on SVT and SVT Play and of course at EurovisionFun you will get the chance to be informed about the results, as soon as they are announced on TV!

Which two of today’s competing artists do you think will be the direct finalists, on the 12th of March?

Stay tuned at Eurovisionfun, for all the latest developments regarding Melodifestivalen 2022 and the Swedish entry for Eurovision 2022!
