POST SANREMO 2024 – EUROVISION SONG CONTEST

Any of the 30 acts (and its respective record labels) who are interested in going to the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will have to fill a special form concerning ESC – The winning act of Sanremo 2024 is automatically considered to be the Eurovision 2024 act. The winning act also has first refusal on that matter, though – in case it doesn’t accept going to Eurovision at all, the show’s organizing committee will then pick the Eurovision 2024 act according to their own criteria (this is especially important to those who have filled the form that determines its interest in going to ESC)

Sanremo 2024, will have different hosts every night alongside Amadeus:

  • Marco Mengoni, the Italian representative for Eurovision 2023 will be the co-host of Night 1.
  • Giorgia, a well-known Italian singer who has participated in Sanremo four times and was crowned its winner in 1995, will be the co-host of Night 2.

Italy: The press will listen to all the Sanremo songs on January 15!

On January 15th, several members of the press are going to listen to all the Sanremo 2024 songs! During that day, music journalists and music blogs will publish their initial reviews and reactions to all 30 songs that will compete in the 74th edition of the Italian music festival.

The 74th Sanremo Music Festival will take place from February 6 to February 10. The songs will be performed live for the first time during the festival, but, like every year, members of the italian press will have the opportunity to listen to the songs and publish their reviews. IT’S OFFICIAL: Marco Mengoni will sing Due Vite in Eurovision 2023!

Earlier today, it became known from the official Eurovision YouTube channel that the winner of the 73rd Festival di Sanremo, Marco Mengoni will represent Italy in Eurovision 2023 with his song “Due Vite”. Specifically, the Eurovision YouTube channel published his live performance from the Sanremo Festival.

Here is the published video:

We already knew that the popular Italian artist wanted to return to Eurovision after his last attempt in 2013 with the song “L’ essenziale” that ended up in 7th place at the Grand Final. Although, he hadn’t decided if he wanted to go with his winning Sanremo entry. In a previous interview with TG1, Marco Mengoni did not seem to be sure about the song with which he would take part in Eurovision for the second time, since as he mentioned he was thinking about not competing in Liverpool with Due Vite, but with another song.

The last time an Italian representative did not take part in Eurovision by participating in Sanremo was Nina Zilli, who replaced Per Semper with L’amore è femmina, eventually finishing ninth in Baku.

Here is his 2013 entry:

What do you think about Mengoni’s decision? Would you like to represent Italy in Eurovision with a different song?  Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Ultimo’s reaction during the press conference

Ultimo criticized the journalists during the press conference. When Mahmood entered the hall he didn’t clap and stated that he never took part in the festival just to win, since his victory is the love of the audience. He then congratulated the winner (not calling him by his name) and said that he feels bitter with himself.

Il Volo congratulated both the winner and the runner-up.

Do you like the winning song? Would you have prefered Ultimo or Il Volo’s song instead?
