Through Eesti Laul, we met the duo of Tõnis Niinemetsa and Grete Kulla for the first time in 2021. After that they presented the national final again in 2023, just as big fans, they accepted this role once again in 2024.
Tõnis Niinemetsa was excited about it:
“For me, Eesti Laul is like Christmas or my birthday. This time of the year I look forward to even more excitedly than summer. And it’s especially nice that I can go to Tartu again this year!”
Grete Kuld was also excited about going back to Tartu:
“The semi-final in Tartu will be awesome! We will bring a big stage, lots of cameras, 15 semi-finalists and definitely a long ladder so that Tõnis can get the high notes, because we also plan to take the stage with a little surprise.”
The semi-final of Eesti Laul will take place in Tartu on January 20 and the final on February 17 in Tallinn. Grete Kulda and Tõnis Niinemets will also appear on the show “Ringvaate” on November 6 and 7 where they will introduce the contestants.
The winner of Eesti Laul 2023 and Estonia’s representative at Eurovision 2023 was Alika with the song “Bridges”. Alika achieved her country’s best finish in the contest in years by placing eighth in the final.

More precisely, the Estonian representative said:
“I’ll be honest, I was and am in favour of Finland. Loreen is still such a legendary winner, twice already. She is a person who is very well suited to Eurovision, but I, personally, liked Finland better!”
She also commented on her result, of course, as she brought her country into the Top Ten after five years.
“I’m incredibly happy that people listened, people heard me, people voted! This is important to me!”

The preparations on Liverpool for the 67th Eurovision Song Contest are on fire and it’s now a wrap for the 5th day of the technical rehearsals. After their first technical rehearsals, the representatives of the first 5 countries participating in the 2nd Semifinal on May 11, took the stage of the M&S Bank Arena for their second rehearsals.
The second rehearsals gave the opportunity to the delegations to fix any mistakes spotted on the first rehearsals and help the artists feel more safe and familiar with the Eurovision big stage.
Because accredited journalists are not allowed to watch both the first and second rehearsals this year, we have very little information about what this year’s artists have prepared for the Eurovision stage. EBU has just uploaded through the official Eurovision channel in YouTube a recap of today’s rehearsals. More specifically, we will have the chance to watch exclusive TV footage of today’s rehearsals.
The countries that had their second rehearsals today were the following:
Denmark
Armenia
Romania
Estonia
Belgium

A pleasant surprise filled the Estonian Eurovision fans with joy last Friday during the EFTA awards ceremony. In the first half of the three-hour broadcast of the awards, the duo that brought the Baltic country its first victory 22 years ago performed their winning song “Everybody” on the EFTA awards stage and stole the show.
This performance is, in fact, the first joint performance of the now 72-year-old Benton with the 43-year-old Padar since they won the Eurovision contest in May 2001 in Copenhagen.
This performance stands as an important landmark in the history of the contest as Dave Benton was the first person of color to win the Eurovision song contest and remains the only one to have done so to date.
Estonia, which is the first Baltic and the first ex-Soviet country to have won the contest,is competing in the second semi-final on May 11th with the song “Bridges” sung by Alika. You can watch our team’s reaction video here:
