Eurovision 2023: Watch the stand-in rehearsals of Czechia and Moldova!

It has already been two months since the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool. 37 performers stepped on the stage of the M&S Bank Arena giving it all and representing their countries in the biggest song competition in the world, after months of intense preparations.

The impressive stage performances that they pulled off were first tried on the Eurovision stage a few days before their arrival through simulations, known as stand in rehearsals. Stand in rehearsals are usually executed by local artists and performers so all participants can know in advance the television result of the performances. On a later stage, they have the opportunity to ask for changes during the technical rehearsals executed by the representatives themselves.

A few days ago the stand-in rehearsals of Switzerland, Israel, Serbia, Portugal, Italy, Finland and Cyprus were leaked, as well as that of Austria.

A little while ago two more rehearsals were released and they are none other than those of Czechia and Moldova.

What do you think of the two stand-in rehearsals? Did you see any difference between this and the final performance?

Moldova: Pasha’s Parfeni favorite picture and his special way of asking for financial help!

This year the official Eurovision account on social media hosts every participant of Eurovision 2023 and they all share their favorite photo in their phone gallery. Today was Pasha’s Parfeni and Moldova’s turn.

The photo that Pasha decided to share was picturing his car and he mentioned the following:

Actually, it’s my car and I’m selling it, because we really need some money. So, if you want to support our team at Eurovision Song Contest, just text me!

Indeed it is a special way of asking for financial help. Although, we cannot know for sure whether Pasha Parfeni is joking or not. The truth is that he might be commenting on the high cost needed to be covered in order for an artist to participate in Eurovision as well as the difficulty of retrieving these funds. These obstacles are much more difficult to be overcome from small countries, such as Moldova, which is often described as the most poor country in Europe.

A similar comment was also stated with a tweet of Joker Out!, the representatives of Slovenia in Eurovision 2023. Joker Out! are worried how will their belongings fit inside the 20kg suitcase that they are entitled to bring.

One thing is for sure…that every artist will be there and they will do whatever it takes, even if that would require them to sell their own car!

Moldova is participating with Pasha Parfeni and Soarele și luna in the 1st semifinal on May 9, performing 10th.

The Moldovan National Selection “Etapa Națională 2023” took place today at 18:00 CET and lasted for three hours. During today’s show we’ve seen ten acts perform their consecutive songs they’d written specifically for Eurovision Song Contest. Among the contestants, we have happened to see three returnees who brought really great results to Moldova previously.

This was the running order for the National Selection.

  1. Donia – “Red Zone”
  2. OL – “Why You Play It Cool”
  3. Victor Gulick – “Let’s Dance”
  4. Surorile Osoianu – “Bade, bădişor, bădiţă”
  5. Cosmina – “Indestructible”
  6. Nördika – “Damn and Down”
  7. Aliona Moon – “Du-mă”
  8. SunStroke Project – “Yummy Mommy”
  9. Pasha Parfeni – “Soarele şi luna”
  10. Corina Ivanov – “When Love’s Real”

Pasha Parefi represented the country in 2012 with the song “Lautar’, Aliona Moon in 2013 with the song “O Mie” and SunStroke Project managed to represent Moldova twice in 2010 and in 2017, while getting the best result for the country in the latter year.

Moreover, among the songwriters we can spot a Eurovision 2023 contestant Mia Nicolai, who will be representing the Netherlands along with Dion Cooper with the song “Burning Daylight”. Mia wrote Corina Ivanov’s song “When Love’s Real”.

Two of this year’s Eurovision contestants, Sudden Lights from Latvia and Theodor Andrei from the neighbouring country, Romania, also have performed during the show. Blanka from Poland was also invited to perform during the show, however she couldn’t make it.
