The fifth act rehearsing today are the indie-rock group Joker Out, representing Slovenia, with their song “Carpe Diem”.
Who are Joker Out?
The Slovenian band Joker Out was formed in 2016 and they have released two albums since then. The five members of the group are Bojan Cvjetićanin (the frontman), Jure Maček, Kris Guštin, Jan Peteh and Nace Jordan. They are well known in the Slovenian society making a tons of hits and winning many awards.
On 8th December of 2022, the National Broadcaster RTV Slovenia announced that the band will represent their country to Eurovision in Liverpool. The band stated that they wanted to keep the entire song in the Slovene language saying: “we want to translate Slovenian into a universal language of dance and entertainment that all countries understand”.
The Rehearsal
Unfortunately this year, accredited journalists don’t get the chance to watch the first and second rehearsals, so we only get the information and content that the organizers officially release to the public.
Joker Out are making a connection with the audience in the arena, probably the same connection will happen with the hundreds of millions of people watching on TV. The group has the same charisma like Måneskin. It’s shown that they have a big stage experience and they look like they’re having the time of their lives right now. Their outfits are also unique and interesting.

Fashion designer Ponorelii (Damir Raković) has been announced as the costume designer of Joker Out for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
The designer has already worked with the band on the clothes for the presentation of their song “Carpe Diem” and states that the styling concept will be similar to the presentation:
“Joker Out have mentioned that the stage presentation will actually stay the same, because that works best, and as they are quite good at live performances they should be encouraged to do so. I didn’t think it was enough to repeat what I had already done for the EMA, but they wanted it because it was successful. If I went beyond that, the costume would take away from the essence of the members when they make love on camera, which is not the case for all bands.”
Ponorelii also explained that the band will be dressed in romantic colours for their Eurovision performance, in reference to the theme of the song, the Garden of Eden. Each member of the band will have their own animal, plantand gemstoneincorporated into their individual attire, with the colours corresponding to each individual’s energyand personality. Ponorelii also collaborated with designer Karl Kirri to incorporate a specially designed Idrija lace into each look.
Joker Out will be performing in the 10th spot of the second semi-final on May 11.
Just before departing for Liverpool and the final destination of their Eurovision journey, Joker Out, the band representing Slovenia in Eurovision 2023 gave a last big concert in downtown Ljubljana. The central square of the city was literally overflowed by the crowd attending, loudly singing along Joker’s Out entry, Carpe Diem. Joker Out, the most popular band in Slovenia, gave once more a really powerful performance, full of energy.
Joker Out proved once more how strong their live performances are and how capable the band is of elevating their song live. They, also, announced that they will also perform Carpe Diem live in Eurovillage.
Member of the band, Kris Guštin, noted that the sound on their video clip is not what they wanted and in their live performances on Liverpool, everything is going to work right.
Joker Out are all set for Liverpool after a long promo tour in 6 different countries. They are not stressful at all, instead they are hopeful that they will manage to bring Slovenia back to the Grand Final after 4 years.
The crowd left the concert super excited and after a long time, the local media seem to consider Eurovision as a hot topic.

The first postcard of Eurovision 2023 has officially been flimed and it’s not other than Slovenia’s.
RTVSLO, the public broadcaster of Slovenia, has confirmed that the first postcard of this year’s Eurovision was filmed by Joker Out, the band that is going to represent them in Liverpool in May.
Back in October, BBC made an offer to find an independent production company, that would come up with the concept and film the 37 postcards of the coming contest. The postcards will be 40 seconds long.
The greatest thing we learned by Slovenia’s filming, was that the production company, decided that each representative will make all filmings for their postcards in their respective countries, which means that this year, the postcards will not be used to promote the host country.

Joker Out filmed their postcard in the roof of Radio Slovenija’s building. As you can see, they asked for a pinball machine to be in the postcard and they were especially happy when BBC approved of it. Jure Maček, the band’s drummer, revealed the connection between the pinball machine and their song:
“We really like the pinball machine, because we started playing it already in Hamburg while recording the song.”
Joker Out will represent Slovenia in Eurovision 2023 with their song “Carpe Diem” and they are allocated in the Second half of the Second Semi-Final:
