Finland: Does Windows95Man’s outfit break EBU’s regulations?

Finland‘s Eurovision entry is called “No Rules”, but the country’s delegation is by far the one that has had to alter its performance the most in order to adhere to the EBU‘s rules. Representatives of Finnish public television have stated that Windows95Man may have to change his outfit once more .

Anssi Autio, Yle‘s producer, specifically stated that Windows95Man might not be permitted to wear the underwear he wore in the national final of the country. The fact that the colour of the clothing in question is the same as that of the singer’s skin may be contrary to the regulations of the other participating broadcasters.

“Not all countries are as familiar with nudity as Finland is”

Autio further stated that the ultimate decision on the matter is anticipated to be taken in Malmö during the rehearsals. The Finnish delegation has thus prepared alternatives.

This isn’t the first time Windows95Man has had to change his outfit. While he was permitted to maintain his stage name, the EBU refused to let him wear the T-shirt bearing the corporate name “Windows” because it violated the competition regulations, which forbid any form of advertisement. Thus, the artist selected a new shirt featuring a blurred logo.

Finland: Harsh criticism from Mr. Lordi for the entries of UMK 2024!

Tomi Putaansuu, also known as Mr. Lordi gave a revealing interview to local Finnish media, harshly criticizing the UMK 2024 entries.

Finland’s only winner of the Eurovision song contest, revealed his favorite entry in this year’s UMK, while describing the other entries with indecent characterizations.

Tomi characterized as Satan, rap music, as well as the corresponding entries in this year’s UMK, while he considers that there is no worthy entry among the candidate songs.

“It’s Satan. Otherwise, probably great music, but it sounds like shit. I can not stand it. They miss the tune. There are no favorites for me among rappers. Probably nice boys, possibly girls too. There’s Cyan Kicks, but there’s also quite a bit of rap. It’s anti-music to me. You can not do anything”.

Mr. Lordi however has a favorite among the current UMK contestants, and that is Cyan Kicks.

Lordi were the big winners of the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 which took place in Athens and gave Finland their first and only victory so far.

Finland: UMK 2024 will be presented by Pilvi Hämäläinen, Benjamin, and Viivi Pumpanen!

UMK 2024 will be hosted by Pilvi Hämäläinen, Benjamin, and Viivi Pumpanen, as announced by the Finnish broadcaster Yle.

Following the announcement, Pilvi Hämäläinen, a well-known figure in Finland thanks to the comedy program Putous (Comedy Combat), stated:

Over the past few years, UMK has become something truly special, and last spring’s competition got me thinking again about how cool it would be to be part of that. I decided to stop just sitting around at home and offered to be a host. Even though I have a lot of experience with live broadcasts, being a host is completely new and different to me.

Benjamin participated in the UMK last year and placed last. He returns to UMK this year, this time in the role of host.

Last year’s UMK was an unbelievable experience, and I wanted to be a part of the magic this year too. As a major Eurovision fan, being able to host the UMK is a dream come true.

Out of the three hosts, Viivi Pumpanen has the most experience. She is eager to take on this challenge since she views UMK as a world-class show.

It’s unbelievable that I can help in putting together such an amazing feel-good show for the whole family. The contest is super important for the competitors and viewers, so I can only imagine how it’s going to feel as a host that night. Of course, I’m also looking forward to working with Pilvi and Benjamin – the three of us have such an unbelievably positive vibe.

UMK 2024 will take place on February 10. On January 10 from 20:00 to 21:30 CET, a live TV show will be held to reveal the UMK 2024 participants. The program, which will be available on Yle TV1, Yle Areena, and UMK’s YouTube channel, will have commentary in English, Finnish, and Swedish.
