Loreen gave her first interview on Swedish TV after being the winner of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest and talked about the moment when during her victory the croud on the arena was singing “Cha Cha Cha”.
More specifically, Loreen said that:
“I mean Käärijä is so (f-word) awesome! An amazing performance. And it’s nice, when acts get such support. You can’t just go “Shush shush, you can only think I’m good“, that’s not how it works!
No, no. That doesn’t bother me. I have to work a little on my ego.”
Finally, she was also asked what message she would like to send to the Finnish representative and she stated:
To Käärijä I’d like to say that it’s not every day, that you see creators be that authentic on stage, and he has an authentic expression. He is himself. It’s pure all the way through, and that’s why people cheer for him. That happens when you are authentic. So I know things will go well for him. Things will go really damn well for Käärijä!”
During the rehearsals and the pre-parties we have seen several times the two artists coming in contact and chatting, showing the excellent relations they have with each other.

Over the last couple of months, uncertainty had emerged regarding the staging of the Swedish participation at the Eurovision Song Contest. Despite the fact that the Swedish national broadcaster SVT had known the EBU staging restrictions for months, there was not a clear answer by the Swedish delegation on whether they will make any changes on the staging of “Tattoo“, in order to comply with the EBU rules.
A few weeks ago, Loreen took part at an AMA event on Reddit, where she revealed that all the staging issues have been resolved, removing any uncertainty about her appearance at M&S Bank Arena. But up to now Loreen had never spoken openly about the Swedish delegation thoughts on the staging.
Loreen has opened up in an interview she had with Expressen today revealing that they had several crisis meetings with SVT regarding the technical specifications of the stage of M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool:
A new stage always comes with other technical prerequisites. I have, together with SVT as a united team, had meetings discussing what is possible and what is not. What can we improve and where do we back off?
As usual, she kept a mystery around her final staging, firing up uncertainty and speculations shadowing her “Tattoo” Liverpool performance once more:
I won’t tell if there is a ceiling or not, you will see that on Sunday. There are things you can do now because of the larger stage. The equipment is different.
Finally, she revealed that there have been many ideas that she backed off for her performance in Stockholm that can be implemented on stage in Liverpool:
There are things I had wanted to do in Stockholm that I think we are able to do in Liverpool that can turn out really powerful.”
Like the number, Loreen is secretive about exactly how her outfit will look on stage in Liverpool, but gave a hint of what to expect:
It is quite an extensive number and there are so many details. Always when you have to create something, you have to “kill your darlings”. Now that we’ve had some time, me and Fadi al Khoury, my designer, have the stuff we didn’t have time to test. It’s a cinematic number so there’s a lot you can do.
This is actually what she has mentioned in one of her TikTok videos, that was published a couple of weeks ago:
Even though the resolution is still not public, an answer will be given at Loreen’s stand-in rehearsal, while her first technical rehearsal is scheduled for this Sunday 4/30.

During the event, she had been asked about whether her delegation had sorted out the issue with 1.800 kg LED screen hanging from the ceiling of the arena and she responded that if all got sorted out:
“Yes and I hope it inspires you!”
However, it is still a mystery about how the delegation and creative team will resolve the issue. Being asked about if she will keep her LED screen “sandwich” staging that we awed us at Melodifestivalen she replied:
“I will do my best for you guys!”
Among others, Loreen mentioned releasing new music within the year and also she is in the talks for a possible European tour.
Even though the resolution is still not public, an answer will be given at Loreen’s stand-in rehearsal in mid-April, while her first technical rehearsal is scheduled for Sunday 4/30.

In our previous article we informed you about the possibility of many changes in the stage appearance of Loreen, representative of Sweden, in Eurovision 2023.
In particular, the second platform hanging above Loreen is also required to be supported by the ceiling. The weight, however, of this particular platform reaches 1.8 tons! The lighting platform, from which this particular platform hangs, may not be able to support it in Liverpool.
Also, the lighting stage at Eurovision is significantly larger than the one used at Melodifestivalen, as it needs to support a much larger number of acts, while it needs to be ensured all this year’s 37 participants have the same possibilities to present what they want on stage of Eurovision.
In addition, according to Eurovision regulations, it is forbidden to everyone to use structures hanging from the ceiling of the stadium.
Loreen’s stage appearance is still uncertain
In an interview, Anders Wistbacka, SVT’s creative director, revealed that they will be forced to change Loreen’s appearance in Liverpool and adapt it to conditions that will be fair to all other artists.
In addition, he mentioned that about 15 technicians are needed to set up the whole appearance in Melodifestivalen, which is quite time-consuming, while there is also the risk of smoke, which will either suffocate singer herself, or create complications for the next performance. In fact, in the video sent to Eurovisiontv by SVT, it is not from the Melodifestivalen Final, due to the smoke problem at the Festival Final.
Also, a commercial break is definitely required before Loreen’s appearance. Of course, no objects are allowed to hang from the ceiling and this applies to all 37 countries, while the EBU and BBC have issued guidelines and restrictions on the type of props and set design
allowed during the competition.
In fact, SVT has known about the restrictions for several months, while all dispatches have known that if there is anything to be hung, it is done before rehearsals and then stays on the ceiling until all the shows are over, so as not to require the 37 participating countries to hang heavy objects from the ceiling of the tent.
On the other hand, the head of the competition’s organizing committee, Twan Van de Nieuwenhuijzen, said that all participating countries must compete on equal terms, while the rests’ plans and rules are communicated to all participating countries at the same time.
Finally, Anders Wistbacka still doesn’t want to go into details about what the restrictions look like and whether Loreen’s stage show will change.
However, he says that everything is up in the air and that they are still trying to find the final solution. The answer will be given at Loreen’s stand-in rehearsal in mid-April, while her first technical rehearsal is scheduled for Sunday 4/30.

We are almost done with all the heats of Melodifestivalen 2023 and it’s just a day after the Fourth Heat, when Marcus & Martinus with the song “Air” won the first voting round and directly qualified to the finals.
The bets
Over the last few days, Maria Sur had managed to surpass Loreen in betting odds, as the latter was the absolute favourite even before Loreen’s song “Tattoo” got published. Loreen managed to overturn the betting odds a day after that happened.
It was always between them two, Marcus and Martinus were third and at a secure distance from the second place, where Maria Sur was. Things however happened quite fast, after the performance of Marcus & Martinus, who seem to have wowed not only the Swedish (and international) public who generously cast their vote by sending her directly in Stockholm and Friends Arena, to compete in the final of March the 11th, but also the betting companies, which now consider them to be the favourite to win and represent Sweden this year.
Loreen has now dropped (once more) to second place with odds starting at 2.58 and reaching 2.3. In third and fourth place we see Maria Sur and Jon Henrik Fjällgren, Arc North feat. Adam Woods respectively. Kiana is predicted to place fifth and Mariette sixth at the moment of writing.
The betting odds depend on many factors and as these factors are subject to changes anytime, the odds can still fluctuate, even last minute.
Let’s see what is going to happen, when we will get the chance to watch the actual shows live, on SVT and SVT Play. Of course at EurovisionFun you will get the chance to be informed about the results as soon as they are announced on TV!
Who do you thing will be selected to represent Sweden in Liverpool, this year?

We are halfway through the Melodifestivalen 2023 shows and not long after the Second Heat, when Maria Sur with the song “Never Give Up” won the first voting round and directly qualified to the finals.
The bets
Over the last few days, Maria Sur was struggling to surpass Loreen in betting odds, as the latter was the absolute favourite even before Loreen’s song “Tattoo” got published. But this seems to just have come to an end.
A few moments ago, Maria Sur, the Ukrainian contestant of this year’s Melodifestivalen, seems to have impressed not only the Swedish public who generously cast their vote by sending her directly in Stockholm and Friends Arena, to compete in the final of March the 11th, but also the betting companies, which now consider her the first favorite to win and represent Sweden this year.
Loreen has now dropped to second place with odds starting at 2.5 and reaching 2.3. In third and fourth place we see Jon Henrik Fjällgren, Arc North feat. Adam Woods and Marcus & Martinus respectively. Kiana is predicted to place fifth and Tone Sekelius sixth.
