OGAE Poll 2023: France’s results!

OGAE‘s fan clubs have already started to announce their results, while the very first fun club is the one from France.

OGAE France’s members have casted their votes and the final results are the following:

 

  • 12 ponits: Sweden
  • 10 points: Norway
  • 8 points: Finland
  • 7 points: Austria
  • 6 points: Italy
  • 5 points: Belgium
  • 4 ponits: Israel
  • 3 points: Czechia
  • 2 points: Slovenia
  • 1 point: Estonia

Seven out of ten countries from bookmakers’ odds are present while Ukraine did not receive any points.

France: More than four million viewers watched the presentation of La Zarra’s song!

More than four million viewers wathced the premier of La Zarra’s song for Eurovision 2023, called “Évidemment”, that took place through the TV show 20h30 Le Dimanche, of the French public television.

In total, 4.3 million French viewers tuned in to watch the presentation of the song that will represnt the country in Eurovision 2023. The highest amount of viewers for the show, was 4.5 million. In accordance to that number, 20.2% of the viewers in France watched the show.

This is the first time since 2020 that France, chose both its representative and song internally for the contest. La Zarra’s participation in the contest, was already confirmed back in January.

The long-awaited, “Évidemment”, with which La Zarra will represent France in Eurovision 2023 was released just yesterday. For rhose who didn’t het the chance to listen to it on its premier, you can watch it below:

France: “Évidemment” by La Zarra is out now! | Listen to it here!

On January 12, through a special press conference, the French national broadcaster France Télévisions announced its representative for Eurovision 2023.

The 25-year-old singer, La Zarra, will raise the French flag in the United Kingdom, claiming the coveted victory for the French.

As we have already informed you in a previous article, the song that La Zarra will have to perform in Liverpool, at Eurovision Song Contest 2023, was expected to be released today, Sunday February 19. The song “Évidemment” is already out and you can listen to it below:

Who is La Zarra;

Fatima Zahra Hafdi, better known as La Zarra, was born in Montreal, Canada.  She got notoriety for her collaboration with rapper Niro in 2016 with the song “Printemps blanc”.  She debut as a solo singer in 2021 with the song “Tu t’en iras” (You’ll go away) in 2021. La Zarra received a nomination at the 2021 NRJ Awards in the category “Francophone Revelation”. She has also topped playlist in various streaming platforms such as Apple Music, Deezer and Spotify.

France: The country’s plans on Eurovision 2023 will be announced today!

France’s public broadcaster, France Télévisions, has already announced that after their win in Junior Eurovision 2022, they are now planning on winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2023!

As of now, the French public television has not made any announcement on how they are going to select their representative or song, while in comparisonn with other years, in this period of time last year, the submission deadline had already been completed and in the end of 2020, we knew all twelve contestants of Eurovision France: C’est vous qui décidez 2021.

However, a few minutes ago, there was an announcement that later today, and to be exact on 15:00 CET, France Télévisions will reveal the plans for Eurovision 2023!

It is not known yet, if France will make an internal selection or a national final, as they have not made any specific announcement for song submission or any information on the selection process.

Last year, France organized the national final C’est vous qui décidez and the winners were Alvan & Ahez with their song “Fulenn”, ending up in 24th place in the Grand Final:

Junior Eurovision: France is going to host Junior Eurovison 2023!

Right after France‘s win in Junior Eurovision 2022 that was held not many hours ago  in Yerevan, Armenia, General Director of the country’s national broadcaster, France Télévisions, confirmed that France is going to accept the hosting of Junior Eurovision 2023.

Specifically, General Director of France Télévisions, Delphine Ernotte, has stated through her Twitter account:

At the winner’s press confrence Head of French Delegation Alexandra Redde-Amiel, has confirmed that the country will indeed host Junior Eurovision 2023.

France will host the contest of Junior Eurovision for the second time, the first being at a very short time ago, Junior Eurovision 2021 in Paris.

France won the 20th Junior Eurovision Song Contest with Lissandro and the song “Oh Maman!” with 203 points, 132 of which are from the jury vote and 71 from the public.

Junior Eurovision 2022: France is the Big Winner!

Just a while ago, the 20th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 took place in Yerevan, Armenia with France being the new winner of the contest with the song “Oh maman!”. Little Lissandro won the second throphy for his country in three years! Armenia came in second place and Georgia in third.

The Contest

The contest took place at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex for the second time, as in 2011, with Iveta Mukuchyan, Garik Papoyan and Karina Ignatyan hosting the evening.

The United Kingdom returned to the contest after a 16-years absence, while Azerbaijan, Bulgaria and Germany withdrew and Russia was expelled from the contest.

The Netherlands opened the show and Ukraine performed last.

The Results

The winner of the contest was determined by the jury vote, combined with the online public vote in a 50-50 ratio, as it was in Eurovision until the last contest.

Online voting determined 100% of the public vote as voting by phone or SMS is not possible. The public decides by 50% on the results, with the remaining 50% coming from the votes of each country’s juries. The Junior Eurovision 2022 Jury included three music industry professionals and two children aged 10 to 15 years.

The result of the jury 

At the end of the jury vote, France was on top for the third year in a row,with 132 points, getting four twelve-points from the Netherlands, Italy, Ireland and Portugal. Georgia ended up second with 114 points and two twelve-points from Armenia and Poland. Then, the host country Armenia got third place with 110 points and four twelve-points from France, Kazakhstan, Spain and North Macedonia. It’s worth mentioning that Kazakhstan, which is used to getting a really high ranking in the jury vote, ended up last with only five points.

Final Results of Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022

United Kingdom was first in the public vote with 80 points, Spain was second with 78 points, while France was third with 71 points. A really interesting fact is that people from 178 different countries voted in the online voting.

The Winner

After the public and the jury vote were combined the winner of Junior Eurovision 2022 was France with Lissandro and the song “Oh Maman!”. Below you can watch the performance that brought France their second victory. Now it remains to be seen whether France will be asked to host the competition again in 2023 after hosting again in 2021.

France was one of the first countries to reveal their song for Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022, which is going to take place in December 11, in Yerevan, Armenia.

Through an internal selection, Lissandro was selected to represent France in Junior Eurovision 2022 with the song “Oh Maman!”, a song that is once again, entirely in French.

A while ago, the country’s public broadcaster, France Télévisions, published the official music video of their song, through the official YouTube channel of Junior Eurovision.

Junior Eurovision 2022: Listen to France’s song for the contest!

There are currently six countries that have chosen their representatives for Junior Eurovision 2022. The last of these countries is France, whose public broadcaster, France Télévisions, announced their representative and their song for the contest in Yerevan, a few hours ago.

Lissandro was internally selected to represent France in Junior Eurovision 2022 with the song “Oh Maman!”. The song is entirely in French. Lissandro is 13 years old from the small village of Moselle in East France. He can sing in five languages, while he has also given his voice to several cartoon characters and he likes many music styles, from plain pop to rock songs.

Junior Eurovision 2022: 16 countries will take part in the contest in Yerevan!

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) alongside the Armenian public broadcaster (AMPTV), announced that 16 countries are going to take part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022, which is scheduled to take place in Yerevan, on Sunday, December 11.

The 16 countries that will travel to Yerevan in December are:

  • 🇳🇱 Netherlands (AVROTROS)
  • 🇲🇰 North Macedonia (MKRTV)

  • 🇵🇹 Portugal (RTP)
  • 🇷🇸 Serbia (RTS)
  • 🇪🇸 Spain (TVE)
  • 🇺🇦 Ukraine (UA:PBC)
  • 🇬🇧 United Kingdom (BBC)

The number of countries that will take part in this year’s contest is reduced, compared to last year, since Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Germany and Russia will not return to the contest, while the United Kingdom returns after a 16 years of absence.

What is more, alongside the final list of competitions, the Armenian public broadcaster announced the slogan of this year’s contest which is: “Spin the Magic”.

“We’re delighted to be welcoming talented young artists from 16 countries this year to Yerevan for the 20th Junior Eurovision Song Contest. France: National Final to decide their Eurovision 2023 act!

A while ago, France Télévisions has confirmed  that they will choose the song that will represent them at Eurovision 2023 the same way they have been for two years. With their national final, C’est vous qui décidez.

Today, the public French broadcaster announced its plans for the 2022-2023 TV season, which includes plans for both Eurovision 2023 and an announcement that the country’s act for Junior Eurovision 2023 in the city of Yerevan, Armenia, will be presented in “a few weeks”.

Eurovision France: C’est vous qui décidez will be presented by France 2, the channel presenting Eurovision in France. The national final C’est vous qui décidez’ was used for the first time in 2021 and brought France its best result of the 21st century when Barbara Pravi finished second in Rotterdam.

2023 will be the third year that this national final will be used to pick the song that will represent France in the Eurovision Song Contest .

France has chosen its representative in the Contest through a national final every year since 2018, with the exception of 2020. In 2022, Alvan & Ahez represented France with the song “Fulenn”. They finished 24th in the Grand Final with 17 points.

At this time no more info regarding the selection has been announced, last year submissions for Eurovision France: C’est Vous Qui Décidez’ 2022 opened in late June of 2021. This means it is likely we could expect a call for songs and artists soon.
