Måneskin will perform on Saturday Night Live (SNL) and Coachella!

Last year’s Eurovision winners Måneskin seem to have officially made a name for themselves on the american music scene, apart from the european one, as their appearances on major live and television shows in the United States keep on coming.

After their TV appearances on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show and The Ellen Show, their next stop is the famous late-night sketch comedy and variety show Saturday Night Live (SNL) on Saturday, January 22nd.

According to the journalists of All Music Italia, the five most suitable songs in order to be the Italian entry in the upcoming Eurovision song contest are:

Italy: Diodato sent a song for Sanremo 2021!

Today is the last day of the deadline, for the artists who want to claim a place among the candidates of the big category of Sanremo 2021. According to the Italian media, Diodato, who was the winner of this year’s festival and the representative of Italy in Eurovision 2020, which was canceled due to the pandemic, has sent a song for Sanremo 2021, wanting to defend his title, but also to have another chance to be on the stage of Eurovision.

RAI has announced that Italy will be represented by the winner of Sanremo 2021 if it so wishes, otherwise it reserves the right to select another artist from the big category, based on its own criteria.

Other names mentioned in today’s posts as having sent a song to RAI for Sanremo 2021 are Ermal Meta, Lo Stato Sociale, Achille Lauro, Ghemon, Max Gazzè, Giusy Ferreri, Francesco Renga, Gaia, Leo Gassmann, Fulminacci, Noemi, Mr. Rain, Rocco Hunt, Elodie, Bugo, Malika Ayane, Annalisa, The Kolors, Michele Bravi, Luca Carboni, Federico Rossi, Maneskins, Arisa, Donatella Rettore and others. Of course we will have to wait a few more days to see if the above posts are valid. So far, however, more than 300 songs have been submitted, without any of the candidate songs to have COVID-19 as a theme, as it was revealed by Amadeus.

On December 17, RAI will announce the 20 finalists of the big category. We remind you that Diodato was the winner of Sanremo 2020 and representative of Italy at Eurovision 2020, which was finally canceled, with the song Fai Rumore:

Italy: These are the 20 reported contestants in Sanremo 2021!

RAI insists that Sanremo 2021 will take place from March 2 to March 6, as originally announced, although final announcements are expected in January. The website recensiamomusica, as every year, published a list of the most likely names of artists that we will see competing in the big category of the festival and which, according to the regulations, will also claim the Italian representation in Eurovision 2021.

So let’s take a closer look at the 20 artists we are most likely to see at Sanremo 2021:

1. Gaia
2. Noemi
3. Fulminacci
4. Leo Gassmann
5. Irama
6. Mr. Rain
7. Elodie
8. Ermal Meta
9. Fasma
10. Luca Carboni
11. Fede
12. The Kolors
13. Malika Ayane
14. Tommaso Paradiso
15. Colapesce e Dimartino
16. Francesco Renga
17. Michele Bravi
18. Annalisa
19. Bugo
20. Måneskin

Among the names we meet Ermal Meta who was the winner of Sanremo 2018 and representative of Italy in Eurovision the same year, in a duet with Fabrizio Moro, Non Mi Avette Fato Niente, who won fifth place in the final standings.

There are also several artists who have participated in the festival again, such as Annalisa, Bugo, Michele Bravi, The Kolors, Elodie, Irama etc. The list also features Måneskin, one of the most popular pop-rock bands of the contemporary Italian music scene.

On December 17, RAI will announce the 20 finalists of the big category. We remind you that Diodato was the winner of Sanremo 2020 and representative of Italy at Eurovision 2020, which was finally canceled, with the song Fai Rumore:

Italy: The municipality of Sanremo requests the postponement of Sanremo 2021 for April!

According to the Italian media, the municipality of Sanremo, which is also the co-organizer of the festival of the same name, requests its postponement for April in order to make it easier, on terms as close as possible to normal.

RAI has announced that Sanremo 2021 will take place in the small town of Liguria, from March 2 to March 6, a month later than usual.

However, the increase in cases and deaths from the coronation in recent times in Italy, prompted the city council to ask the RAI to move the dates of Sanremo 2021 a month later. The rationale for the request is quite reasonable, since the city of Sanremo benefits greatly from the holding of the annual music festival, with the capacity of hotels reaching 100% and the shops full of life. The eventual realization of Sanremo 2021 without an audience, due to the pandemic, will mean financial disaster for the professionals of the city.

If, of course, the above happens, then there is an issue with the Italian representation in the Eurovision Song Contest, since the meeting of the heads of delegations is set for March 15, a catalytic date for the submission of the candidate songs. This practically means that all the competing songs at Eurovision 2021 should have been selected by March 15, which in the case of Italy will not be possible through Sanremo, if the dates in April are shifted.

We remind you that according to the recently announced Sanremo 2021 regulations, the winner of the big category will have the opportunity if he/she wishes to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest. In case of refusal then RAI will select another contestant of the big category, most likely following the final ranking of the festival. The artists of the big category of Sanremo 2021 will be announced on the night of the selection of the 8 finalists of the Giovani category, in the Casino of the City of Sanremo, on the 17th of December.

The winner of Sanremo 2020 and the representative of Italy in Eurovision 2020 that was finally canceled, was Diodato with Fai Rumore:

Italy: Sanremo’s winner will be the country’s representative in Eurovision 2021 | Televoting is strengthened!

The rules of the 71st Sanremo Song Festival have just been announced. What we are mainly interested in is that in 2021 the winner of the festival will have the opportunity if he or she wishes to represent Italy in Eurovision. Another important change is the strengthening of the telovoting in the results.

Greater speech to the public and new representative for Eurovision

The winner of the Sanremo Festival will have the first say in representing Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest. RAI continues the successful practice that began in 2015, giving the winner the right to represent his country at Eurovision. All participants from the big category will have to submit the relevant responsible statement until the end of the festival, where they will accept or not this right, if they are crowned winners. So, immediately after the end of the final, on Saturday, March 6, and based on the results that will be available, RAI will know who is the representative of Italy in Eurovision 2021.

Another important change introduced in Sanremo 2021 is the strengthening of public voting. The public will vote both on Saturday, on the final night, and on the first two nights. Otherwise, the vote remains as it is. In the first two nights, the demoscopic jury and the public will vote. On the third night, where we will have the tribute to the great Italian composers, the members of the live orchestra and the members of the choir will vote. On the fourth night the press jury will vote and on the final night both the TV audience, the demoscopic jury and the press jury committee will have the right to vote. We remind you that in Sanremo 2020 the public voted only on the final night of the festival.

The detailed program of Sanremo 2021

On the first night, March 2, the first 10 candidate songs of the big category will be presented. The public and the demoscopic jury (300 fans selected with statistics and demographics) will vote from home. At the end of the night there will be a ranking.

On the second night, March 3, the remaining 10 candidate songs of the big category will be presented. The scoring system will be the same as last night.

On the third night, March 4, the 20 candidates will perform either alone or accompanied by one of their own guests, another song, dedicated to the great Italian composers. The members of the orchestra and the vocals will vote. The score will be counted in the final, while a prize will be given to the winner of the night.

On the fourth night, March 5, the 20 contestants will perform for the second time their song. Accredited journalists will rate the 20 entries. At the end of the night, the ranking of the current score will be given.

On the fifth night, March 6, the score is divided into two parts. In the first part there will be a triple rating from the public, the demoscopic jury and the press committee in a ratio of 34% -33% -33%. The average of the score of all previous nights and today will make an overall ranking. The first three will go to the second round of voting.

The votes will be zeroed and a new voting will start with the exact same system (34% televoting, 33% poll committee and 33% press committee). The one who will collect the most votes will also get the golden lion, but also if he wishes he will represent Italy in Eurovision 2021! In case the winner refuses, then the second of the final ranking will be selected etc.

On December 17, RAI will announce the 20 finalists of the big category. Italy is now officially added to the list of countries that will seek their representative again in the Eurovision Song Contest, raising the number of these countries to 13.

We remind you that Diodato was the winner of Sanremo 2020 and representative of Italy at Eurovision 2020, which was finally canceled, with the song Fai Rumore:
