Sweden: Watch clips from the rehearsals of the first Melodifestivalen 2023 heat!

As usual, a few hours before each Melodifestivalen heat, SVT published the rehearsal clips of all seven competing artists of the first heat of February the 4th, taking place in Gothenburg.

A while ago, the first 30 second rehearsal clips of the upcoming heat got published! You can watch the published clips, by clicking on the song title links below:

The process

Two songs will directly qualify to the grand final of Melodifestivalen 2023, which will take place on the 11th of March. The songs that will place third and fourth will have to compete again, at the fifth semi-final, held on the 4th of March. There will be four heats in total.

As we have already informed you, the voting system of Melodifestivalen has changed following the announced changes by EBU regarding the voting format in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool!

The broadcaster now scraps the group division at the fifth show, known as the semi-final and all eight contestants will now have to face each other. Points will be awarded from the viewing groups and the four entries with the highest points will advance to the final!

The dates of Melodifestivalen 2023

  • Heat 1: Göteborg – Saturday 4 February 2023 (Scandinavium)
  • Heat 2: Linköping – Saturday 11 February 2023 (Saab Arena)
  • Heat 3: Lidköping – Saturday 18 February 2023 (Sparbanken Arena)
  • Heat 4: Malmö – Saturday 25 February 2023 (Malmö Arena)
  • Semi-Final: Örnsköldsvik – Saturday 4 March 2023 (Hägglunds Arena)
  • Final: Stockholm – Satuday 11 March 2023 (Friends Arena)

We remind you that Melodifestivalen 2023 is scheduled to take place between February 4th to March 11th and will be hosted by Jesper Rönndahl and Farah Abadi.

American Song Contest: Listen to snippets of the songs from the 4th qualifier round!

A few days before the 4th qualifier round and most of the participating artists have already released snippets of their songs on TikTok and you can hear them by clicking on the title of each song!

Just a few days before the first ever American Song Contest kicks off,  small snippets from the representatives of each state and region of the First Qualifier Round of the American Song Contest were published on TikTok.

The 11 participants of the First Qualifier Round are as follows:

  3. Wyoming: Ryan Charles – “New Boot Goofin”
  4. Indiana : UG skywalkin – “Love For My City”

The American Song Contest 2022 will start on Monday, March 21 and will last 8 weeks, until the big winner is announced on May 9. The competition will be attended by the 50 US states, the five overseas US possessions and the capital, Washington. Grammy-winning pop superstar Kelly Clarkson and multi-platinum music icon Snoop Dogg will host the show.

The contest will consist of three rounds: the qualifiers, the semifinals and the grand final. In the grand final, the finalist states will compete for the title of “Best Original Song” of the USA.

Slovenia: EMA 2022 Semi-Final Two Snippets Released!

RTVSLO, the Slovenian national broadcaster, has released 30-seconds snippets of the competing entries in Semi-Final 2 of EMA 2022.

The competing entries are:

  1. MIA GUČEK – INDEPENDIENTE
  2. GUŠTI feat. LEYRE – NOVA ROMANTIKA
  3. KLARA JAZBEC – VSE KAR IMAM
  4. VEDRAN LJUBENKO – H2O DIETA

We remind you that in each semifinal, eight established artists and two artists from EMA FREŠ will compete to advance to the Final. The public vote will select the three finalists and a jury will select three others. In the Final, a five-member committee (50%) and a public vote (50%) will decide which of the 12 finalists will represent Slovenia in Turin.

RTVSLO, the Slovenian national broadcaster, has released snippets of the competing entries in Semi-Final 1 of EMA 2022.

The competing entries are:
