Malta: 132.000 viewers watched the final of MESC 2024!

After many months of preparations, the national final of Malta was completed last Saturday, and the island country, now has its own representative for Eurovision 2024!

Earlier today, TVM, the public broadcaster of Malta, announced that 132.000 viewers watched the final of Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2024, live.

The viewing figures have slightly fallen from last year, when TVM reported that 265.000 viewers watched the final. However, these are not small numbers, if we take into account that in 2021, Malta had 519.562 permanent residents.

The winner of MESC 2024, was Sarah Bonnici with the song “Loop”. You can read more about the Maltese national final in our article.

Malta: MESC 2024 fourth and last semi-final takes place tonight!

The time we’re all waiting for, is slowly coming again. We are talking about the national final period of Eurovision Song Contest 2024! This year, the first country that’s airing its national final, is Malta!

For the third year in a row, the island country is using the format of a national final and is organizing Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2024 (MESC), through which they are going to select their representative for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest.

36 artists are going to take part in Malta’s selection process for Eurovision 2024. A process consisting of semi-finals and the Grand Final, will select the artist and the song that is going to represent Malta in Malmö.

Tonight the fourth and last semi-final of MESC 2024 will take place and will be broadcasted at 21:00 CET. You can watch it through the live broadcast of TVM’s official website, by clicking HERE.

Participants

Today, we are going to see nine last artists, out of the 36 competing in MESC 2024, in tonight’s fourth semi-final.

The artists that will compete in tonight’s show are:

  • Kyle George – “Arrows”

The Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2023 (MESC 2023)

Phase I – Song Submission and Selection

Those interested could subit their songs in the country’s public broadcaster. After the deadline, the 36 competing artists were selected.

Phase II – Semi Final
  • Artists will perform their songs live via a TV show that will be broadcasted for several weeks.
  • The top 12 artists via a combination of jury and public vote will qualify to the Grand Final.
Phase III – Grand Final
  • The Grand Final will be held in January 2024.
  • Every participant will have a budget of 5.000 euros for producing and filming a video-clip of its entry.
  • Every participant will film a live-on-tape performance in December 2023(the artists will have 60 minutes to film 3 performances and between these, the best will be chosen)
  • The winner will be decided from a jury and public vote.

Until we learn who is going to represent Malta in Eurovision 2024, let’s remember their song for last year’s contest. The Busker were the winners of MESC 2023 with the song “Dance (Our Own Party)” but they didn’t manage to qualify for the Grand Final ending up in 15th place of the First Semi-final with 3 points:

Malta: Listen to the nine more songs competing in MESC 2024!

A few hours ago, the third semi-final of MESC 2024, the national final of Malta for Eurovision 2024, was completed!

For the third year in a row, the island country is using the format of a national final and is organizing Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2024 (MESC), through which they are going to select their representative for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest.

36 artists are going to take part in Malta’s selection process for Eurovision 2024. A process consisting of semi-finals and the Grand Final, will select the artist and the song that is going to represent Malta in Malmö.

The third semi-final which took place a earlier today, with the presentation of nine more songs through a TV show, named XOW. Both the jury and public vote were completed.

When all semi-finals are completed, the twelve songs with the highest scores will advance to the Grand Final. The fourth and last, semi-final will take place next Friday!

Malta: MESC first semi-final to take place on Friday | First songs of the season are about to be revealed!

It’s official! In two days, we’ll be able to listen to the first songs of Eurovision 2024 National Final season, and this time, they are coming from Malta!

As revealed in August, MESC 2024 will see significant changes. From now on, after the end of the submission period, the competitive part of MESC 2024, is about to begin, and the semi-finals will take place from October 27 to November 17.

A few minutes ago, Malta’s public broadcaster revealed through their Facebook page, the names of the first nine artists that will present their songs in the first semi-final of Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2024 (MESC):

The nine songs that will be presented are:

  • Kurt Calleja – Misunderstood
  • Sarah Bonnici – Loop
  • Gail – Wild Card
  • Mark Anthony Bartolo – Condition or Fiction
  • Eliana Gomez Blanco – There’s Only Flowers
  • OXYGYN – Cloudmaker
  • Nathan – Ghost
  • Lyndsay – Fire Proof
  • Dominic Cini – Bewsa

The songs will be revealed through TVM’s show “XOW” in 21:00 CET, and the voting will begin after every song is presented. After all semi-finals are over, the twelve artists with the highest scores from every semi-final, will advance to the Grand Final.

All of the above mark the start of the National Finals season for Eurovision 2024, as well as the release of the first songs of the season. So on Friday, we will may be able to listen to the song that will represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024!

Malta: MESC 2023 Second Qualifying Round Tonight!

The time to learn Malta’s song for Eurovision 2023 is here! For the second year in a row, the island country is using the format of a national final and is organizing MESC 2023, through which they are going to select their representative for the 67th Eurovision Song Contest.

40 artists are going to take part in Malta’s selection process for Eurovision 2023. Five shows in total, three qualifying rounds, one semi-final and the Grand Final, will select the artist and the song that is going to represent Malta in Liverpool.

The hosts of the three qualifying rounds of MESC 2023 will be Ryan and Josmar.

The first Qualifying round took place last Saturday, but without announcing the names of the artists advancing to the semi-final. The 24 artists to take part in the semi-final, will be announced after the end of the third qualifying round.

The second qualifying round of MESC 2023 will be broadcasted at 21:00 CET. You can watch it through the live broadcast of TVM’s official website, by clicking HERE.

It’s worth mentioning that the Maltese public television hasn’t announced the running order of the qualifying round.

The Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2023 (MESC 2023)

MESC 2023 will take place in five competitive rounds: three qualifying rounds, one semi-final and the Grand Final.

13 song will compete in the first two qualifying rounds, while 14 will take part in the third one. Eight songs will advance to the semi-final from each of the three qualifying rounds.

The 24 songs that will qualify to the Semi-Final will be determined through the voting of both the jury and the public. Through the semi-final, the 16 artists that will compete in the Grand Final, will be decided.

  • Quarter-Final 3 – January 27th
  • Semi-Final – February 9th
