Latvia: A Surprise Withdrawal from Latvia’s Supernova 2025

A surprise withdrawal was announced just days before the start of Supernova 2025, Latvia’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, which will take place in Basel, Switzerland.

Contestant Grēta (Grēta Grantiņa), who was set to compete in the semi-final of the national competition with her song “Monster”,  was forced to withdraw due to health issues.

Supernova producer Guntars Gulbiņš thanked Grēta for her participation, wished her a speedy recovery, and expressed hope that she will return as a contestant next year. He also confirmed that there will be no significant changes to the semi-final’s live broadcast:

The semi-final will feature 19 artists, and as planned, 10 of them will advance to the final based on a 50/50 split between jury and public voting.
