Austria: JJ’s Song “Wasted Love” to be Released in March
Austria’s national broadcaster, ORF, has confirmed that the country will be represented at Eurovision 2025 by JJ with the song “Wasted Love”. The Austrian entry will be heard for the first time in early March.
ORF’s program director, Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz, stated:
JJ is an exceptional talent! With him, we are sending a distinctive artist to Basel, who will bring his own magic to the Eurovision Song Contest stage with rousing pop and classical singing.
Earlier, ORF’s program director revealed that seven songs were in the running to represent Austria, including two songs by Philip Piller and Dominic “Dodo” Muhrer, who previously represented the country in 2015 in Vienna as part of The Makemakes.
The song was selected through Austria’s first songwriting camp, organized specifically to create Eurovision entries. The Austrian representative was chosen in a closed selection process, with no national final or public voting, but instead by three juries. The first jury consisted of a 30-member panel of national and international music experts, the second was a 30-member panel of Eurovision fans from five Eurofun clubs, and the third was the ORF Eurovision editorial team.
