Iceland: Over 100,000 viewers for the second semi-final of Söngvakeppnin 2025!
The second semi-final of Söngvakeppnin, through which Iceland’s representative for Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, will be selected, seemed to be of great interest to the eurofans. Over 101,000 viewers watched the show. The viewership reached 48% making the show the most watched show in the country last week. At least 127,640 viewers watched part of the show.
Below are the results and the qualifiers:
- Dagur Sig – “Flugdrekar”
- Júlí & Dísa – “Eldur”
- Bára Katrín – “Rísum upp”
- Bjarni Arason – “Aðeins lengur”
- Tinna – “Þrá”
Of the above, Júlí & Dísa qualified with the song Eldur, Bjarni Arason with Aðeins lengur and Tinna with the song Þrá.
The final of Söngvakeppnin 2025 will take place on February 22 at RVK Studios at Gufunes in Reykjavik with Benedikt Valsson, Guðrún Dís Emilsdóttir and Fannar Sveinsson as presenters. The result will be decided by the combined votes of 50% of the audience and for the first time 50% by an international jury vote.
To recall that in 2024 Iceland was represented by Hera Björk with the song Scared of Heights but failed to qualify for the grand final finishing last in the first semi-final with a total of 3 votes leaving Iceland out of the final for the second consecutive year. We look forward to seeing how the country does this year in the Eurovision Song Contest!
