Norway’s Road to Eurovision 2025: The MGP Grand Final Is Here!

Tonight, Norway will select its representative for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland. The Scandinavian country’s beloved national selection, Melodi Grand Prix (MGP), returns with a brand-new format — featuring a single, action-packed final to determine the winner.

A New Era for MGP

For the first time in years, the Norwegian broadcaster NRK has streamlined the selection process, opting for one grand show instead of multiple semi-finals. The change brings Norway’s format closer to its Nordic neighbors Denmark and Finland, who have long used a one-night-only approach for their Eurovision selections.

Tonight, the nine competing entries will be performed live for the very first and only time — making every performance crucial for the artists involved.

The Finalists

Here are the nine acts competing for the golden ticket to Eurovision 2025:

  1. Tone Damli – “Last Song”
  2. Sondrey – “Vagabong
  3. Nora Jabri – “Sulale
  4. Wig Wam – “Human Fire”
  5. LLL – “Parasite”
  6. Kyle Alessandro – Lighter
  7. Nataleen – “The Game
  8. Ladybug – “Hot as Hell in Paradise”
  9. Bobbysocks – “Joyfull

Voting System

The MGP 2025 winner will be determined through a combined voting process:

  • 60% public vote (Norwegian viewers)
  • 40% international jury vote

This voting format has been used in recent years, ensuring a balance between domestic support and international appeal.

Special Guests & Hosts

The evening will feature guest performances from:

  • Gåte – last year’s MGP winners, who represented Norway at Eurovision 2024 with “Ulveham”.
  • Marcus & Martinus – the Norwegian twin duo who competed for Sweden in Malmö, finishing in second place with “Unforgettable”.

Hosting tonight’s event are:

  • Marte Stokstad
  • Tete Lidbom
  • Markus Neby
