Portugal: The First Semifinal of Festival da Canção 2025 Takes Place Tonight!

As the national final season nears its end, another country begins its journey to Eurovision 2025. Tonight, Portugal kicks off Festival da Canção 2025, the show that will determine the nation’s representative for Basel, Switzerland.


Festival da Canção 2025 – Format & Voting

This year’s selection consists of three shows:
Two semifinals
The Grand Final on March 8

Each semifinal features 10 competing artists, with six qualifying for the final. This means that a total of 12 acts will battle it out for the ticket to Eurovision 2025.

How is the voting structured?
Round 1: A jury (50%) and the public (50%) will select five qualifiers.
Round 2: The public alone will decide the sixth and final qualifier.


First Semifinal – Meet the Competitors

Here are the 10 artists competing in tonight’s first semifinal:

  2. Rita Sampaio – “Voltas
  3. Du Nothing – “Sobre Nós
  4. Marco Rodrigues – “A Minha Casa
  5. Margarida Campelo – “Eu sei que o amor
  6. JOSH – “Tristeza
  7. Capital da Bulgária – “Lisboa
  8. Bluay – “Ninguém
  9. Jéssica Pina – “Calafrio
  10. Peculiar – “Adamastor

The hosts of the first semifinal are Jorge Gabriel and José Carlos Malato. Meanwhile, the Grand Final will once again be presented by Filomena Cautela and Vasco Palmeirim, marking their seventh year as hosts.
