Sweden: The results of the first heat of Melodifestivalen 2025!
Moments ago, the first heat of Melodifestivalen 2025 concluded, with two entries advancing directly to the grand final, while one more will move on to the next heat for another chance to secure the golden ticket to the final.
What’s changing this year?
Changes to the format were announced on 22 August 2024. A total of 30 entries will take part in the competition across five heats. Each heat consists of six songs, with the top two songs directly qualifying for the final. Unlike in the previous edition, only the third-placing song will proceed to a final qualification round at the end of the fifth heat, which will now feature five songs instead of ten. The top two songs in the final qualification will then progress to the final, which will comprise 12 songs. The winner of the final will be determined by the usual 50/50 combination of votes from the public and an international jury.
FIRST HEAT
The contestants:
- Albin Johnsén feat. Pa – “Upp i luften”
- Maja Ivarsson – “Kamikaze Life”
- John Lundvik – “Voice of the Silent”
- Meira Omar – “Hush Hush”
- Adrian Maceus – “Vår första gång”
- Linnea Henriksson – “Den känslan”
The performances:
- Albin Johnsén feat. Pa – “Upp i luften”
Albin Johnsén feat. Pa opened the show with the dynamic song “Upp i luften”. The artists appeared on stage on a structure resembling a seesaw, surrounded by dancers. They had great energy, which was transmitted to the audience, setting a fantastic rhythm to kick off the competition segment.
- Maja Ivarsson – “Kamikaze Life”
The next contestant, Maja Ivarsson, appeared alone on stage in a total black outfit, with LED lights in pink and blue shades, performing the song “Kamikaze Life.” Halfway through the song, she stepped off the stage and approached the audience, making her performance even more lively.
- John Lundvik – “Voice of the Silent”
Odds favorite John Lundvik, with his pop ballad “Voice of the Silent” was the third contestant of the night. The performer stood out on stage with his bold red outfit, contrasting with the smoke and dark shades dominating the scene. The spherical prop on stage, with a mirror-like appearance, added a unique touch to the overall visual of his performance. His vocals were once again outstanding.
- Meira Omar – “Hush Hush”
Meira Omar took the stage performing the song “Hush Hush”. The singer was accompanied by four dancers. The performance had it all—dance, strong vocals, good energy, great staging…and a few small mishaps with the cameraman.
- Adrian Maceus – “Vår första gång”
Adrian Maceus performed the powerful ballad “Vår första gång” while seated at first on stage, surrounded by a luminous circle placed on the set. The artist seemed to enjoy himself and gave his best performance.
- Linnea Henriksson – “Den känslan”
Last but not least, Linnea Henriksson performed “Den känslan” on the Melodifestivalen stage. Her performance was charming and enjoyable. The singer changed outfits on stage, and combined with the heart-shaped prop, it was reminiscent of Kalomira’s perfomance at Eurovision 2008 with the song “My Secret Combination”.
