Sweden: 2.6 Million viewers for Heat One of Melodifestivalen 2025!
Last Saturday, Sweden’s largest music festival, Melodifestivalen, opened its curtain again this year with the aim of once again selecting the country’s representative in the Eurovision Song Contest.
2,643,000 viewers watched Heat One of Melodifestivalen live on Saturday evening, making it the most-watched broadcast on Swedish TV last week. The figures are a small decrease from 2024 when 2,771,000 viewers watched Heat One. This makes it the least-watched launch show in over 10 years, but does not take into account viewers on SVT Play.
John Lundvik with “Voice of the Silent” and Maja Ivarsson with the song “Kamikaze Life” stood out from the first qualifying round and managed to get both tickets for direct qualification to the grand final! Meira Omar with “Hush Hush” came in third place and will compete after the fifth qualifying round for a place in the final on March 9.
Next Saturday, Melodifestivalen continues with the Second Qualifier and six more contestants fighting for the two places that lead directly to the grand final:
