Italy: The stage for Sanremo 2024 has been revealed!

RAI has released the stage of Sanremo 2024, which is ready to welcome the 30 artists from February 6 to 10.

Set designers are Gaetano and Maria Chiara Castelli. The idea behind the design of the scene is for flowers to bloom.

This year we wanted to rely on organic shapes, taking inspiration from a flower like the orchid and its petals, exaggerating its shapes, to also softly design the two lateral stairs, desired by Amadeus, from which they will descend the competing artists. The central part, however, will be automated and can be raised to become the “door” for conductors and guests towards the stage, under which the orchestra will find space.

Sanremo 2024 will be held from 6 to 10 February, with the winner having the right to represent Italy at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

Eurovision 2024: Intense Battle at the Top and changes in the Top 5 & Top 10!

As we approach the semi-final draw of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest, one of Eurovisionfun‘s favorite and most-discussed columns makes its return. The betting analyses for Eurovision 2024 are back, offering insights into the current landscape as we head towards the highly anticipated event in May.

Hot Competition at the Top

The battle for the top spot in the betting odds continues, with Ukraine maintaining its position as the favorite ten days before the Vidbir 2024 grand final. Compared to our analysis three weeks ago, Ukraine‘s odds have slightly declined, attributed to the popularity of Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil, considered strong contenders for representing Eastern Europe. The odds for Ukraine‘s victory in Malmo range between 5.7 and 7.

The United Kingdom holds its ground in the second position. Similar to Ukraine, the UK‘s odds have decreased, ranging from 6.5 to 8. The selection of Olly Alexander and the expectations surrounding the BBC‘s choice have influenced these odds.

Shuffling in the Top 5

Italy has risen to the third position in the betting odds. Just days before the Sanremo Festival, Italy‘s victory in Malmo is a topic of discussion, with betting odds reaching up to 11 times the initial wager. The country’s strong recent track record, coupled with the impressive Sanremo lineup, has boosted confidence in Italy’s chances.

Sweden now holds the fourth position, aiming for its historic eighth victory on home soil. In-house victory for Sweden is offered at odds ranging from 8 to 13.

Israel rounds off the top 5, facing a decline in odds due to geopolitical realities and the conflict in Gaza. Despite this, Israel‘s odds for victory are around 15.

Top 10

Lithuania steadily climbs to the sixth position, with Silvester Belt‘s “Luktelk” and VB Gang‘s “KABOOM!!!” gaining attention. Odds for Lithuania’s potential first-ever victory in Malmo range from 7 to 17.5.

Norway drops to seventh place, with odds around 15-17. The Melodi Grand Prix 2024, concluding next Saturday, is eagerly awaited by Eurofans.

Greece moves up one spot to eighth, showing resilience after a disappointing presence in Liverpool. Marina Satti‘s name and the direct assignment to a prominent figure in the Greek music scene restored bookers’ confidence on the Mediterranean country. Greece remains in the Top 10 throughout 2024, with odds between 13 and 21.

Switzerland takes the ninth spot, benefitting from the decision not to send a male ballad this year. Memories of Luca Hänni‘s success in 2019 play a role, with odds offered being around 13 and 21, as well as Greece.

Finland completes the top 10, with Sara Siipola and “Paskana” gaining attention. Odds for Finland’s potential victory range from 17 to 22.

Italy: The journalists’ ratings of the 30 Sanremo 2024 songs!

On Monday, January 15, media representatives heard the 30 Sanremo 2024 songs for the first time and then published their reviews. The betting odds have also been adjusted as a result of the reporters’ remarks, making it more probable than ever that a woman would win!

Journalists appear to believe that three female artists have the best songs in Sanremo 2024. The surprise comes from 72-year-old Loredana Berte, the sister of the legendary Mia Martini, who has received overwhelmingly excellent reviews—even 10s, the highest possible score—for her autobiographical rock song from nearly every journalist! Here’s the energetic song by Annalisa, who might finally win the Golden Lion in 2024 and represent Italy in the Eurovision contest. Third is the artist Angelina Mango. There are two former Eurostars in fourth and fifth place, Diodato and Mahmood, to complete the top 5.

As you can see, Annalisa is now the clear favorite to win after the changes to the betting odds. Goelier, who had dropped in the rankings earlier, is now in third place, while Alessandra Amoroso, who has received mixed reviews, is still in second place.

Naturally, because the journalists are listening to the studio versions of the songs, there could be a twist when we hear the songs on February 6, the opening night of the festival, when the songs are performed with a live orchestra.

At the end of the month, the lyrics of the songs will be made public.

Italy: The ranking of Sanremo 2024 artists on social media!

A few weeks separate us from the 74th Sanremo Italian Music Festival, through which the artist and possibly the song that will represent the country at Eurovision 2024 will be announced. With perhaps the strongest line up of recent years, the 27 renowned artists who will be competing this year, have millions of followers on social media, who will also play their part in the outcome of the results, since televoting will largely determine the winner. So let’s look in detail at the dynamics of 27, on social media.

Emma Marone has more followers, by far, since she has almost 6.5 million followers on Instagram. Another lady of Italian pop, Alessandra Amoroso, follows with almost 4 million. The trio is rounded off by rapper Ghali with 2.7 million. The ranking of course changes, depending on the criteria we want to examine (such as follower interaction, reactions to posts, etc.).

We remind you that tomorrow, Monday 15/1, accredited journalists will listen for the first time to the 30 candidate songs that will compete in Sanremo 2024 and immediately after that they will publish their reviews, which as you understand will also affect the betting odds. A few hours before the publication of these reviews the rapper Goelier is the first favorite to win, with Alessandra Amoroso following and Annalisa in third place!

Italy: Amadeus does not rule out staying on as host and artistic director at Sanremo 2025!

It is possible that Amadeus will remain in the position of presenter and artistic director of the Sanremo Festival in 2025 as well, according to what he stated in an interview with La Republicca.

The fifth festival of Sanremo is this year, in which Amadeus, in addition to the presentation, also has his artistic direction. Under his guidance, Sanremo not only achieved huge ratings, but produced countless hits, a winning song at the Eurovision Song Contest that became a global hit, and positively engaged the media as much as ever.

Italian public opinion unanimously would like Amadeus to remain in his position for many more years. He seems to no longer rule it out, saying that after the end of Sanremo 2024 he will discuss with RAI about the next festival.

As you read in our previous article, rehearsals have already started in Rome with the RAI orchestra and will last until next Friday.

The next important date is Monday, January 15, when part of the press will have the opportunity to listen exclusively to the 30 candidates of this year’s festival and then formulate their reviews. On January 30, the lyrics of the songs will be published.

In the bookies, rapper Goelier widens his lead over the rest of the artists, with Alessandra Amoroso firmly in second place and Annalisa in third place. We remind you that the festival will take place from the 6th to the 10th of February at the Teatro Ariston.

The winner of Sanremo 2024 is automatically considered the Italian entry for Eurovision 2024. In the event that does not accept to go to Eurovision, the Sanremo organizing committee will then choose the artist to represent Italy in Malmö according to its own criteria (meaning from those contestants who have filled in the Eurovision interest form).

Eurovision 2024: The first odds after the year change!

2023 has been history since a few hours ago and Eurovisionfun welcomes 2024 with one of its most loved and talked about columns, with the betting analyses for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest kicking off for 2024.

While you’re still in the mood for your Christmas holidays and getting ready for a ‘hot’ Eurovision winter, bookers are already getting down to business, with the Eurovision 2024 winner section already being offered to some bookmakers. So, we’re taking the opportunity to bring you the so far for the next contest.

Derby at the top

Clearly influenced by the current geopolitical reality, as well as the performance of the last few years, one could describe the setting in the top five. On the basis of the figures so far, Ukraine and the United Kingdom are joint top, with the 2022 winner offered at odds between 7 and 8, while last year’s host is at odds of between 6.5 and 8.

Clearly, there is a telling difference between the odds offered for Ukraine and the UK. On the one hand, Ukraine’s odds are clearly influenced by the ongoing Russian invasion in the Eastern European country for two years now and the sympathy for the Ukrainian people as manifested in the televoting of the last two contests. On the other hand, the UK’s odds are explained by the announcement of Olly Alexander as the country’s representative in Malmö alongside the long-standing tendency of British fans to bet on the much-coveted sixth win in the Contest.

In third place, but with exactly the same odds as Ukraine, we find another country with a tradition in the contest that is, at the same time, in a state of war, Israel. Up to eight times the money to be placed on it would be returned by Israel’s fifth victory, with bookers clearly influenced by what is happening in Gaza and “suspecting” a similar surge of support for Israel’s participation, similar to what happened in the last two years in the case of Ukraine.

Nine times the stakes return a potential victory of one of the major powers of the last decade in the contest, Italy. The amazing tradition of the last few years, together with the strong line-up of the upcoming Sanremo Festival largely explain the betting companies’ confidence in the southern European powerhouse.

Of course, the top five could not but be completed by the multiple winner (together with Ireland) of the Eurovision Song Contest, Sweden. The Eurovision 2024 host is rightly seen as one of the heavy favourites to win in Malmö, with SVT’s decision-makers and Swedish Eurofans wanting more than anything for the historic eighth win to take place on Swedish soil. A home win for Sweden is offered at odds between 8 and 11.

Top 10

In sixth place in the betting tables is Norway, which is being played at odds of around 15, being one of the most respected figures in our favourite contest, with Eurofans eagerly awaiting the Melodi Grand Prix 2024 which will start next Saturday.

Spain is seventh, just behind sixth place. Bookers are still relying on the positive momentum the Spanish delegation carries from Chanel‘s huge success in Turin a year and a half ago and despite the fact that the song release of the upcoming Benidorm Fest 2024 did not excite, they are still offering Spain within the top ten.

In eighth place one finds Switzerland, whose odds have plummeted in the last week to bring them into the top 10, whereas until recently they were close to 20th place. The Swiss delegation leader’s post that the Central European country will not be sending a male ballad to Malmo seems to have prompted many to bet on Switzerland, apparently bearing in mind the last time that didn’t happen, in 2019, when Luca Hänni’s “She Got Me” placed fourth in Tel Aviv.

In ninth place, and for the first time during the current Eurovision season, one meets Greece. After the disastrous performance in Liverpool, Marina Satti‘s name and the momentum that the selection sends out to a big name in the Greek music scene seems to return the shaken confidence of the bookers towards the once powerhouse. It is quite possible that the appearance of the Greek representative in Syntagma Square for the change of the year has brought about this “tailwind” in the odds circulating in the bookmakers for Greece‘s victory in Malmo. The Greek victory is being played at odds between 13 and 21, being lower than at the same time last year.

The top ten is completed by France. The Western European country is one of three countries that have so far revealed their songs for Eurovision 2024, along with Czechia and Albania. However, Slimane‘s “Mon amour” is in a significantly better position than the other two entries, with bookers cautiously optimistic and keeping France within the Top 10. Up to 21 times the stake is returned on a potential French win, which is being played at similar odds to Greece.

Any of the 30 acts (and its respective record labels) who are interested in going to the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will have to fill a special form concerning ESC – The winning act of Sanremo 2024 is automatically considered to be the Eurovision 2024 act. The winning act also has first refusal on that matter, though – in case it doesn’t accept going to Eurovision at all, the show’s organizing committee will then pick the Eurovision 2024 act according to their own criteria (this is especially important to those who have filled the form that determines its interest in going to ESC)

Sanremo 2024, will have different hosts every night alongside Amadeus:

  • Marco Mengoni, the Italian representative for Eurovision 2023 will be the co-host of Night 1.

So for those who are fans of the Italian music scene, are not bored of the endless TV shows and are ready for a week of night and day, we at Eurovisionfun will keep you the best company!

Italy: Amadeus and Annalisa welcome the new year and become a meme – 61% viewership!

With a big concert held in Piazza Pitagora, in the municipality of Crotona in the region of Calabria, the people of Italy welcomed the new year.

The concert was broadcast through the channel of RAI1, with over 10 million viewers with a percentage of 61%, tuning into the public channel of Italian television, at the turn of the new year. Overall, the concert attracted 6.202.000 viewers (40,1%) . Among the artists who appeared at the Piazza Pitagora concert was Sanremo 2024 contender Annalisa, whose career has soared in the last year.

Worth noting, she was the artist with whom the presenter and artistic director of Sanremo, Amadeus, welcomed the new year together with the whole of Italy.

In particular, while Annalisa, was singing her big hit, Belissima, Amadeus quickly ran to interrupt her, as the new year was entering, causing moments of laughter to all Italians, while the scene immediately went viral throughout Italy, with users  of Social Media, show me with the two protagonists.
