Belgium: Eurosong 2025 line-up revealed!

VRT has officially unveiled the lineup for Eurosong 2025, the Belgian national selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest. After contacting record labels, VRT has come to a shortlist of eight artists who will compete for the Belgian representation in Eurovision 2025.

The line-up

Eight artists will compete in Eurosong 2025:

  • Lenn, Grace
  • Mentissa
  • LEEZ
  • Le Manou
  • Red Sebastian
  • Stefanie Callebaut

Each artist will showcase their unique musical style and vision, ensuring that the competition offers a diverse range of performances.

Eurosong 2025 – The Format

The selection process will consist of two preliminary rounds, in which the artists will perform their chosen songs in their most authentic form, without any extra stage effects or production enhancements.

Following the two preliminary rounds, the final of Eurosong 2025 will take place in a live show on Saturday, February 1st, 2025. The final decision of which artist will represent Belgium at Eurovision 2025 will be determined by a combination of public votes and a professional jury.

The show will once again be hosted by Peter Van de Veire, a familiar face in the Belgian Eurovision scene. As always, he will also provide expert commentary during the Eurovision Song Contest in May, offering insights and updates as the competition unfolds.

Mustii represented Belgium in Eurovision 2024 with his entry “Before The Party’s Over”. Despite being a fan-favorite, Mustii did not qualify to the grand final, finishing thirteenth in the second semi-final.

Junior Eurovision 2024: Exclusive TV footage from all seventeen second rehearsals!

The rehearsals at Caja Mágica are in full swing as the first technical rehearsals have concluded and the second round is now underway.

The second set of rehearsals at Junior Eurovision has given delegations the opportunity to address any issues that came up during the first round. This has allowed the artists to feel more confident and secure as they prepare to take the main stage.

However, details about the performances remain limited, as accredited journalists are not allowed to attend either the first or second rehearsals. To give fans a sneak peek, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has shared a recap of all the seventeen second rehearsals on YouTube via the official Junior Eurovision channel. This exclusive footage offers highlights from today’s sessions, providing viewers with a behind-the-scenes look at the preparation process.

What’s next?

On Friday, November 15, the two Dress Rehearsals will be held. The Dress Rehearsals are full run-throughs of the show from start to finish, including the performances, interval acts, and voting sequence.

Then and it is time for Dress Rehearsals. The First Dress Rehearsal will take place on Friday morning, while the Second Dress Rehearsal will take place in the evening. The Second Dress Rehearsal is particularly important as it is also the Jury Final. This is when the seventeen national juries will watch the full show and cast their votes, which will help determine the final outcome of the competition.

Moreover, on Friday the first phase of the Online Voting will commence and the half of the contest’s outcome will be determined.

The 22nd edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held on November 16 in Madrid, Spain, following the country’s second-place finish last year and the refusal of the winning country, France, to host for the second year in a row. The slogan for this year’s contest is “Let’s Bloom!”, while Ruth Lorenzo, Marc Clotet and Melani Garcia will serve as this year’s hosts.

Estonia: Tommy Cash is confident that he will be the Eesti Laul 2025 winner!

In an interview with ERR, the country’s national broadcaster, Estonian rap star Tommy Cash said he was confident that the organizers of Estonia’s top song contest Eesti Laul would not miss the chance to include him among this year’s finalists. Cash also believes he is the best artist to represent Estonia at Eurovision 2025.

Cash told ERR that he had no doubt that his song would be selected for the upcoming edition of Eesti Laul, the competition that will determine who will represent Estonia at Eurovision in 2025.

“I always felt inside that [the judges] would definitely pick that song because I don’t think Eesti Laul is stupid and I don’t think they would pass up the opportunity for me to be in there as I think I could be the best representative for Estonia.”

According to Cash, now strategically is the right time in his career to compete in Eurovision.

“Because I have been working with Käärijä (Finland’s 2023 Eurovision contestant – ed.) and I started working with a producer who also produced the Finnish Eurovision song ‘Cha Cha Cha.’ Then there was this moment where I made a little joke on stage and said I was going to Eurovision and it snowballed so much from there. “When I was walking down the street, all the fans were like, ‘yeah, yeah, Eurovision!’ The internet picked up on it too and so, I feel like young people in Estonia have made up their minds about who is going to Eurovision. Of course, I also hope that everyone will like the song and I will do my best. But you never know. However, I would like to say with confidence that I could go to Eurovision right now.”

If Cash doesn’t win the next Eesti Laul, he said, he’ll be okay with that too.

“I’m totally fine with it, I understand and people will just have to imagine what would have happened if Tommy Cash had gone to Eurovision. I’m giving people the chance to think that I could actually go, because the competition actually starts if I were to win Eesti Laul, which is very important”

He also added that if he doesn’t win Eurovision, he would be satisfied with a top five finish.

Commenting on his participation in the Estonian contest Eesti Laul,  Cash finds his song “Espresso Macchiato” captivating.

“It’s something new for everyone. I’m often asked what I think about such a video or picture. Everything I do has a context for me, but for every person it’s different. Let people listen to it for themselves.”

In the end, Cash clarified that after 2025 he does not intend to compete in Eesti Laul again.

“Why? When I’m already going to Eurovision and I’m going to do it in such a legendary way”

The Eesti Laul 2025 is scheduled for February 15, 2025, when we will find out who will raise the Estonian flag at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, next May in Basel, Switzerland!

Serbia: 222 entries submitted for Pesma za Evroviziju 2025!

The deadline for submitting entries for Pesma za Evroviziju 2025 (PzE 2025), the national competition that will determine Serbia’s next entry in the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland, ended on November 10.

A total of 222 entries were submitted for Pesma za Evroviziju 2025, and contest editor Olivera Kovačević and music editor Uroš Marković say the difficult part now is selecting the 28 entries that will compete in the semi-finals.

Olivera Kovačević and Uroš Marković were guests on the show “Jedan dobar dan” where they made relevant statements.

Uroš Marković stated:

“Pesma za Evroviziju is becoming more popular every year. Last year’s final was watched by 1,750,000 people on television and another 450,000 on YouTube. All in all, that’s more than two million people. This year, we are in negotiations with the Eurovision Song Contest to broadcast the final for the Serbian representative on their official channel.”

According to him, Pesma za Evroviziju gives the contestants a great chance for promotion, because it is covered by the media and is very popular.

In turn, Olivera Kovačević stated:

“The careers of many now famous performers started at PZE, and the fact that the competition is increasingly popular shows that we have found the path we need to follow and that we are making progress every year, both visually and in terms of content.”

She also reveals that there are very good applications for the upcoming competition and many famous performers, but she cannot name them because the selection committee will evaluate them in early December and then a list of those who have passed will be made.

“It is the best when you offer a variety of genres, from ethno, to rock and pop, to metal. It is the same at the ‘Eurovision’, every year they try to find a recipe. One year ‘Måneskin’ win, and the next year everyone plays something similar. This year Nemo won, probably next year some will try something in that vein”

The names that will compete in Pesma za Evroviziju will be revealed in mid-December.

Ukraine: 374 Songs Submitted for Vidbir 2025!

Today, the public broadcaster of Ukraine, Suspilne, announced that it has received 374 song submissions for its national final, from 304 artists. Among these, 232 submissions are from solo performers and 72 from bands. A total of 369 applications were submitted.

The submission period for the Eurovision 2025 national selection ran from September 17 to November 10. This year, applications were also submitted by artists from Sweden, Germany, Poland, the United States, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

The names of the artists advancing to the next selection stage will soon be announced. Based on the initial selection results, a list of participants who will move forward to the national selection phase will be formed. This list will include up to 20 artists who must pass auditions and participate in person.

By December 20, the finalist list for the national final will be finalized, comprising up to 9 performers based on audition results. For those on the longlist who do not make it to the finalist list, an online ranking vote will determine an additional participant for the final. The complete list of finalists will be announced by January 17, 2025.

The national final will take place in February as a televised concert. Like in previous years, the winner will be selected through a combination of public and jury voting. The composition of the jury will be decided by the Ukrainian public in an online vote at a later date.

Previous Vidbir winners and Ukraine’s Eurovision 2024 representatives, alyona alyona & Jerry Heil, finished in third place with their song “Teresa & Maria”.

Junior Eurovision 2024: Day Two of the technical rehearsals at Caja Mágica!

As the 22nd edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest draws near, the excitement is building. Young artists from seventeen countries have gathered in Madrid, preparing to perform live in front of millions of viewers from across Europe and beyond.

These talented artists have been working hard for months in anticipation of this moment, and they are now ready to “bloom”. While, the first nine countries conducted their first technical rehearsals yesterday, artists from the following eight countries took the stage of Caja Mágica today:

  • Malta
  • Portugal

The First Rehearsals

In line with the tradition of the adult Eurovision Song Contest, the first rehearsals were closed to the press. As a result, no journalists were allowed to watch the rehearsal sessions, and there were no official rehearsal clips shared by RTVE. This means that, for now, there is no audiovisual footage available to fans, but the official social media channels of Junior Eurovision have shared a few photos offering a sneak peek behind the scenes.

Ireland – Enya Cox Dempsey

Enya Cox Dempsey, dressed in a vibrant pink and purple outfit, was the first artist to take the stage. She is not alone—four female dancers accompany her, suggesting a high-energy dance performance. The backdrop features colorful visuals.

France – Titouan

The Junior Eurovision champions, France, are back with Titouan, aiming to win for the third consecutive year. Titouan wears a white jacket with stamps and is joined by four dancers on stage. The performance is dominated by blue tones.

Poland – Dominik Arim

Dominik Arim from Poland took to the stage in a stylish beige ensemble, accompanied by four female dancers. The LED screens behind them showcase themes inspired by the earth and the sea, adding a natural, immersive element to the performance.

San Marino – Idols SM

The Sanmarinese group, Idols SM, is all about friendship, as their performance reflects the message of their song “Come Noi”. The girls wear matching outfits, creating a strong sense of unity. It is clear that San Marino is bringing a fun and energetic performance to the stage.

Netherlands – Stay Tuned

The Dutch act, Stay Tuned, is bringing a playful twist with matching outfits and full of bright neon colors. Their performance features interesting stage props, including two mirrors, which will likely add a unique visual element.

Germany – Bjarne

Bjarne from Germany also takes to the stage in beige tones, joined by five dancers who perform an extensive dance routine. The performance promises to be colorful and full of movement, with the LED screens displaying beautiful natural landscapes.

Malta – Ramires Sciberras

Ramires takes the stage in a total-black, sparkling outfit, and from what we’ve seen so far, his performance is visually impressive. Snow falls from the ceiling, smoke fills the stage, and dramatic lighting is complemented by a fiery backdrop. Could Malta be this year’s surprise contender? Personally, I think so.

Portugal – Victoria Nicole

Wearing a stunning blue-green dress, Victoria Nicole is the last to take the stage today. Her performance is dramatic, featuring smoke on stage, yet highlighted by a vibrant LED backdrop. Victoria also brings her piano to the stage, adding an intimate and personal touch to her act. The emotional performance is especially meaningful as Victoria wrote the song herself, and she is aiming for Portugal’s first-ever win at Junior Eurovision. Her heartfelt delivery and strong connection to the song make her a standout contender this year.

What’s next?

After the First Rehearsals, the Second Rehearsals will follow. These rehearsals give the artists a final opportunity to perfect their acts before the Dress Rehearsals. Any last-minute changes to the performances can be made during this time.

It is expected that the voting recap video, which will be shown before the live show, will also be filmed during these second rehearsals.

Israel: All the highlights from the first episode of HaKokhav Haba!

The highly anticipated Israeli selection process for Eurovision 2025 began tonight with the premiere of the first episode of HaKokhav Haba 2024. This competition, known in English as “The Next Star”, is the format used by Israel to choose its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Since its debut in 2015, HaKokhav Haba has been the main selection method for Israel, excluding the years 2022 and 2023. The show has achieved significant success, notably securing Israel’s Eurovision victory with Netta in 2018.

Though filming for this season began on October 10 at Neve Ilan Studios, tonight marked the official broadcast of the first episode on Israeli television.

The Format

In the “HaKokhav Haba” format, each contestant performs a song, with the aim of securing at least a 70% approval rating. This score is determined by a combination of live audience votes from those attending the studio and a jury panel’s vote. Each member of the jury can contribute a maximum of 10% to the contestant’s total score.

Hosts and Judging Panel

Returning to host the show are Rotem Sela and Assi Azar. Azar has been involved with HaKokhav Haba since its inaugural edition in 2013 and previously hosted the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. Sela joined as a host in the second season and has been a presenter ever since.

The judging panel for this season includes a diverse group of music industry veterans:

With their combined experience, the panel ensures a high level of competition, which promises to be even more intense than last season’s edition.

Contestants and Their Performances

In tonight’s episode, six contestants took the stage, and five of them advanced to the next stage of the competition. Here’s a look at some of the standout performances:

  • Nati Livian (25): Performing “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston, Nati impressed the judges with his vocal abilities and received an outstanding 93% score.

  • KLÉR (22): Keller sang “Love On The Brain” by Rihanna. Her experience shone through, earning her a 96% score, and the judges noted her potential for Eurovision, comparing her to past Eurovision winner, Nemo.

  • Renana Boaziza (29): Renana performed “Finished” by Idan Amedi. Despite a solid performance, the judges questioned whether she was a good fit for Eurovision, and she scored 82%. Assaf Amdursky did not vote for her.

  • Ido Malka (26): Performing his original song “Psychopath”, Ido impressed the panel and received a 94% score, showing strong potential to represent Israel at Eurovision.

  • Daniel Weiss (29): Daniel dedicated his performance of “I’m a Guitar” by Benny Amdursky to the victims of the October 7th incident, as he tragically lost his parents in the Israeli-Hamas conflict. His emotional rendition earned him the highest score of the night—97%.

The winner of HaKokhav Haba and therefore Israel’s representative in Eurovision 2024 was Eden Golan. Eden Golan performed her song “Hurricane“, finishing fifth overall.
