Croatia: Baby Lasagna Wins the “You’re A Vision Award 2024”!

After Sheldon Riley (Australia 2022) and Käärijä (Finland 2023), the “You’re A Vision” award has a new winner. According to the public vote, Baby Lasagna from Croatia was declared the winner, showcasing the most impressive outfit at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

For those unfamiliar, the “You’re A Vision” award honors the most striking costume in the Eurovision Song Contest. This award celebrates creativity and diversity within the competition. Each year, it is presented to the contestant whose outfit stood out the most, whether it be a simple yet stunning suit or a fire-breathing dress. The award’s purpose is to highlight which outfit caught the public’s eye and who stood out the most.

Like Käärijä last year, who finished second in the Eurovision Song Contest and won the “You’re A Vision” award for the most impressive outfit, Baby Lasagna, with the song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim”, also finished second, behind Nemo from Switzerland. The costume paid homage to Croatian folklore, marking the best placement for Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Croatia: Baby Lasagna denies monetary award and asks to be given to charity instead!

Undoubtedly, Baby Lasagna, the Croatian representative in Eurovision 2024, did the impossible. From being a substitute act for Dora 2024, he won the national selection, made himself one of the hot favorites to win Eurovision 2024, won the public voting and ended up second overall. Baby Lasagna won Croatia’s best placement in Eurovision Song Contest as an independent state and despite not winning the event, he was welcomed in Zagreb as a national hero.

In that context, the Croatian Government decided to award Baby Lasagna a monetary award of fifty thousand euros for his Eurovision success as well as a recognition for his contribution on the nation’s promotion in the international scene, which is of vital importance for a small country.

However, Baby Lasagna could not accept the award and calls for the money intended to him to be given to charity instead:

I thank the Croatian Government for the monetary award in the amount of 50.000 euros. However, I cannot accept that money. I could give many reasons why, but the first, most important and sufficient one is that there are many other individuals and organizations that this money will help much more.

Hereby, I am asking Mr. Plenković to donate 25.000 euros on behalf of me and the Croatian Government to the Institute for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology with the “Mladen Ćepulić” Day Hospital. Furthermore, I would like to donate the other 25.000 euros to the Institute for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, KBC Zagreb.

Eurovision 2024: Which rehearsal has the most views on TikTok?

Two days ago, the first rehearsals for all 37 entries officially concluded, and today the second rehearsals are expected to be completed, with the Big 5 and the host country Sweden taking the stage at the Malmö Arena for the second time! This means that we are getting closer to the Eurovision week, with the Dress and Jury Rehearsals for the first semi-final starting on Monday.

However, as we know on TikTok, all the first rehearsals are uploaded. Apart from their performances, we’ll also get a sneak peek backstage before they take the stage for the first time in a video of about one minute.

One of the many features of TikTok is the ability to add songs to each user’s video creation. Based on this capability, the most popular songs before rehearsals were from the Netherlands and Italy. Will they receive the same promotion as before?

TikTok has played a significant role in the success of Eurovision songs in recent years. For example, Duncan Laurence’s winning entry “Arcade” became a global hit a year after winning the competition when it was used in over a million videos on TikTok. One of the earliest TikTok successes from Eurovision was Getter Jaani’s “Rockefeller Street”, which went viral on the platform in 2018 and has since been used in over two million videos. Let’s not forget that Armenia’s entry in 2022 by Rosa Linn with “Snap” gained over a billion views on the platform. Finally, Norway’s entry last year gained significant worldwide publicity months before the competition week, where it secured fifth place.
