Spain: The guest artists of Benidorm Fest 2025!

Spain’s national broadcaster, RTVE, has announced the guest artists of Benidorm Fest 2025, the competition through which the Iberian kingdom is going to choose its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, in Basel, Switzerland.

In the first semi-final of Benidorm Fest 2025, on January 28, Edurne, who represented Spain ten years ago at Eurovision 2015, as well as the female group Ginebras, will perform.

The second semi-final on January 30 will feature Ruth Lorenzo, who represented Spain eleven years ago at Eurovision 2014, singer Chenoa, originally from Argentina and Spain, and singer Isabel Aaiún.

The final on February 1 will feature last year’s winners and Spain’s representatives at Eurovision 2024 Nebulossa, along with the musical act Rigoberta Bandini, who took part at Benidorm Fest 2022, and the rock duo Amaral.

Spain: The Professional Jury for Benidorm Fest 2025 Announced!

RTVE, the Spanish national broadcaster, has announced the members of the professional jury for Benidorm Fest 2025.

The jury consists of eight esteemed professionals—four national and four international—who will collectively contribute 50% of the total score.

The national jury includes:

  • Roberto Santamaría (Director of Radio Nacional de España)
  • Javier Llano (Head of music programming at CADENA 100)
  • Jaime Acero (Content Director at TelevisaUnivision)
  • Claudia Orellana (Director and founder of Son Buenos)

The international jury includes:

  • Oksana Skybinska (Head of the Ukrainian delegation for Eurovision)
  • Maja Tokic (Executive producer of Dora, Croatia’s Eurovision selection)
  • Twan van de Nieuwenhuijzen (Dutch Head of Contest for Eurovision 2023 and former Head of Delegation)
  • Mariangela Borneo (Director of International Projects and Festivals at RAI, Italy)

Benidorm Fest 2025 Format

As in previous editions, Benidorm Fest will feature two semi-finals and a Grand Final. The results will be determined by 50% professional jury, 25% demographic jury, and 25% public voting.

The semi-finals will air on January 28 and 30, with eight participants in each, from which four will advance to the final. The Grand Final will take place on February 1, where eight songs will compete to represent Spain in Eurovision 2025.

Last year’s winners of Benidorm Fest, Nebulossa, represented Spain in Eurovision 2024 with their song “Zorra”, finishing in 22nd place.

Spain: Rehearsals begin for Benidorm Fest 2025

The stage is set for Benidorm Fest 2025, Spain’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. After ten days of work, the stage is ready, and rehearsals have officially started at the Palau d’Esports l’Illa in Benidorm.

This year’s stage design is different from previous editions. It features a triangular layout that nearly spans the width of the arena. A large LED screen, measuring 30 meters wide and 20 meters high, forms the backdrop, creating a more open and spacious feel.

Ana María Bordas, Co-Director of Benidorm Fest, explained:

“We wanted to create a stage that feels bigger and allows the audience to feel more involved.”

More than 300 people worked to complete the stage, which is now ready to host the live shows. The production includes 18 cameras and 500 lighting fixtures, ensuring every performance will be captured from the best angles.

Rehearsals have begun, with participants preparing their performances for next week’s shows.

Benidorm Fest 2025

As in previous years, Benidorm Fest will consist of two semi-finals and a Grand Final. Throughout each phase of the contest, results will be determined by a 50% expert jury, 25% demoscopic jury, and 25% public vote.

The two semi-finals will air on January 28 and January 30, featuring eight entries, with four advancing to the final from each. The Grand Final will take place on February 1, with eight songs vying for the honour of representing Spain.

The winners of last year’s Benidorm Fest and Spain’s representatives in Eurovision 2024 were Nebulossa with the song “Zorra” who ended up in 22nd place:

Spain: Benidorm Fest songs to be released on December 18!

The Spanish public broadcaster, RTVE, will announce the sixteen songs competing in Benidorm Fest 2025 on December 18, aiming to represent Spain at Eurovision 2025. The reveal will take place through a press conference scheduled for 11:00 CET at RTVE’s headquarters, where all the songs participating in Benidorm Fest 2025 will be presented.

So far, all we know are the names of the artists and the songs with which they will compete. The 16 artists competing in Benidorm Fest 2025 are:

  • Carla Frigo – “Bésame” (Kiss me)
  • Celine Van Heel – “La casa” (The house)
  • Chica Sobresalto – “Mala feminista” (Bad feminist)
  • Daniela Blasco – “U Na Na”
  • David Afonso – “Amor barato” (Cheap love)
  • De Teresa – “La pena” (The pain)
  • Henry Semler – “No lo ves” (You don’t see it)
  • J Kbello – “VIP”
  • K!ngdom – “Me gustas tú” (I like you)
  • Kuve – “Loca por ti” (Crazy for you)
  • Lachispa – “Hartita de llorar” (Tired of crying)
  • Lucas Bun – “Te escribo en el cielo” (I write to you in heaven)
  • Mawot – “Raggio di sole” (Ray of sunlight)
  • Mel Ömana – “The Queen”
  • Melody – “Esa diva” (That diva)
  • Sonia & Selena – “Reinas” (Queens)

Benidorm Fest 2025 will follow the same format as Eurovision, with two semi-finals and a grand final. The 16 artists will compete in the two semi-finals on January 28 and 30, with four artists from each semi-final advancing to the grand final, which will take place on February 1. The Spanish representative for Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, will be chosen during this final. For the first time in the history of Benidorm Fest, the full semi-final results will only be revealed after the final.

Last year, Spain was represented by Nebulossa with the song “Zorra.” The duo placed 22nd, with 30 points:

Spain: Benidorm Fest 2025 contestants to be revealed on 12th of November!

The announcement regarding the artists who will take part in Benidorm Fest 2025 is expected to take place on November 12.

Following yesterday’s news of the cancellation of the original date (November 7th) of revealing the names that will compete to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, through the Benidorm Fest 2025 competition, the new date is November 12th, according to the Spanish website ESCplus España.

The revealing of the names is going to take place on Tuesday, November 12 at a press conference at RTVE’s Prado del Rey studios in Madrid, at 11:00 CET. The choice of this date is not accidental as a few days later on Saturday 16th the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is going to take place in Madrid, and the city will arelady be in a festive mood.

What we know about Benidorm Fest 2025 so far

During the 143-day application period for Benidorm Fest, from May 20 to October 10, approximately 1,000 songs were submitted. RTVE has already begun the listening process to select the 16 best entries that will compete at the festival from January 28 to February 1.

Interest in Benidorm Fest appears to be very high, as this year saw the highest number of applications received over the festival’s four-year history, Last year, there were only 825 submissions.

María Eizaguirre, RTVE’s Director of Corporate Affairs and Participation, also provided some insights regarding the genres and artists. Most submissions were folk and urban songs, along with some rap entries, while pop remains the dominant genre once again. As for the artists, some of them are not Spanish, but reside permanently in Spain, showcasing the interest of international artists in the event. Additionally, female artists outnumbered male artists. Notably, for the first time, RTVE received a song created by artificial intelligence.

Spain 2025: Aiko submits song for Benidorm Fest 2025!

Aiko has submitted a song for the 2025 Benidorm Fest together with Megara’s drummer, Kat.

Aiko represented Czechia in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.  Megara on the other hand, were the San Marino representatives this year.  The announcement was made by the two artists in the Plaff pub in Vigo, Spain during a Eurovision party.

The name of the song Aiko has submitted with Kat is “Mi Amor”.  We don’t have more details about the song in competition as it is still not available in any streaming services.

Aiko and Kat met during their Eurovision journey this year and they are currently dating.

Aiko represented Czechia in Malmö with her song Pedestal.  She finished in 11th place in her semifinal.  Megara represented San Marino with the song 11:11 which finished in 14th place.  Megara got initial recognition by the Eurovision fans after the band participated in the second edition of the Benidorm Fest where they finished in fourth place with their song Arcadia.

Spain: RTVE receives a record number of submissions for Benidorm Fest 2025!

Spain was one of the first countries to confirm its participation in Eurovision 2025, even before the Grand Final of the contest in Sweden, opening the submission window just a few days later.

The submission window for Benidorm Fest 2025 closed last night. RTVE announced earlier today that it received almost 1,000 songs over the 144 days that the process lasted, with around 300 of those submissions coming in the last 24 hours alone!

This number sets a record for all editions of Benidorm Fest. Around 200 more entries were submitted compared to last year, demonstrating that the festival is becoming increasingly embedded in the Spanish music scene and has grown into one of the biggest platforms for promoting music.

In the last three years, RTVE received the following number of entries for Benidorm Fest:

  • In 2022, 886 songs were submitted
  • In 2023, 876 songs were submitted
  • In 2024, 825 songs were submitted

Following the closing of the submission window, a special jury panel appointed by RTVE, consisting of music experts, will listen to and evaluate the songs. From these, the 16 best songs will be selected to compete in Benidorm Fest 2025, which will take place on January 28 and 30, and February 1.
