Junior Eurovision 2024: Listen to the Portuguese entry!

Back in July and during the “The Voice Kids” finale, RTP announced that the thirteen-year-old Victória Nicole will represent Portugal in the 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Just moments ago, Victória’s entry “Esperança” was released and uploaded on Junior Eurovision’s official YouTube channel.

Esperança” is written by Victória herself, developed with support from The Voice Kids coaches and national music stars Nininho Vaz Maia and Bárbara Tinoco. Regarding the lyrics, Victória Nicole says that she has crafted a message she considers “beautiful for the people” and that, beyond the technical aspects, it also showcases her “personal feelings“.

How was Victória selected?

Victória Nicole was selected right away by RTP to represent Portugal in the 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest, after she emerged victorious in the fifth season of “The Voice Kids” in Portugal.

A winner of “The Voice of Portugal” has previously been awarded a golden ticket to Junior Eurovision. The nations’ representatives in the children’s competition were also crowned as the winners of “The Voice of Portugal” in 2021 and 2023, while the runner-up of the talent show in 2022 represented Portugal in Yerevan.

Who is Victória Nicole?

She amazed Portugal with her blind audition on The Voice Kids, where she sang “Voilà” live on the piano, the French entry in Eurovision 2021, and turned all fourchairs of the mentors.

Born in Venezuela, Victoria moved to Ílhavo, Portugal, in 2018 and has been actively pursuing her dream of becoming a professional singer, always supported by her parents, who even enrolled her in a singing academy. She has also been playing the piano for five years and the cavaquinho for two.

Beyond music, Victoria is known for her extroverted and affectionate personality. She enjoys drawing and cooking, showcasing her creative spirit in various forms.

The 22nd edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held on November 16 in Madrid, Spain, following the country’s second-place finish last year and the refusal of the winning country, France, to host for the second year in a row. The slogan for this year’s contest is “Let’s Bloom!”, while Ruth LorenzoMarc Clotet and Melani Garcia will serve as this year’s hosts.

Italy will open the show, while Malta will close the contest. Spain will perform tenth.
