Estonia: Eesti Laul final to be held with audience!

Yesterday, Estonia’s national broadcaster, confirmed that the final of Eesti Laul 2022 will be held with audience.

After the proposal of the Minister of Culture, Estonia’s government decided to grant a special permit for the organizers of the final of Eesti Laul, to allow an audience of 3.000 people in Saku Suurhall, because it is an important national and cultural event. With the, as of now, protection measures for the pandemic, up to 1.000 people are allowed to be in the indoors stage. In the presence of a sovereign public interest, events with a greater number of audience can take place, if the people can disperse in the venue. Saku Suurhall’s capacity is 6.000 seats.

The artists and the running order of the Grand Final of Eesti Laul 2022 are:
  1. Elina Nechayeva – “Remedy”
  2. Andrei Zevakin feat. Grete Paia – “Mis nüüd saab”
  3. Jaagup Tuisk – “Kui vaid”
  4. Elysa – “Fire”
  5. Ott Lepland – “Aovalguses”
  6. Stig Rästa – “Interstellar”
  7. Minimal Wind ft. Elisabeth Tiffany – “What To Make Of This”
  8. Stefan – “Hope”
  9. Anna Sahlene – “Champion”
  10. Black Velvet – “Sandra”

The Grand Final will take place on Saturday, February 12 in Saku Great Hall. The hosts of the final will be Maarja-Liis Ilus, Priit Loog and Jüri Pootsmann. There will be two voting rounds. The first round will decide the artists that will qualify for the Super Final, with 50% jury voting and 50% televoting. In the second round, the Estonian representative will be decided solely on televoting

Estonia: The running order of the final of Eesti Laul 2022!

A few hours ago, the public broadcaster of Estonia, ERR, announced the running order of the grand final of Eesti Laul 2022, the country’s national final!

Elina Nechayeva, who represented Estonia in Eurovision 2018, will be the first to perform while Black Velvet will be the last!

The running order of the final is as follows:

  1. Elina Nechayeva – “Remedy”
  2. Andrei Zevakin feat. Grete Paia – “Mis nüüd saab”
  3. Jaagup Tuisk – “Kui vaid”
  4. Elysa – “Fire”
  5. Ott Lepland – “Aovalguses”
  6. Stig Rästa – “Interstellar”
  7. Minimal Wind ft. Elisabeth Tiffany – “What To Make Of This”
  8. Stefan – “Hope”
  9. Anna Sahlene – “Champion”
  10. Black Velvet – “Sandra”

The hosts for the final will be Maarja-Liis IlusPriit Loog andJüri Pootsmann. Many surprise guests who have a strong bond with Estonian Song and Eurovision will perform in the Saku Great Hall. For example Annely Peebo and Marko Matvere who mesmerized Europe with the song “Ancient Story in Music” 20 years ago, will meet again on stage. Uku Suviste, who have won Eesti Laul twice, will also be invited as well.

Estonia: Eesti Laul first semi-final tonight!

Estonian selection Eesti Laul 2022 continues tonight with the first semifinal. Almost two months after the fourth qualifying round of the Estonian selection, ten artists will be competing tonight for their qualification to the Grand Final on February 12th.

Presenters of the semifinal will be singer Maarja-Liis Ilus and actor Priit Loog.

The show will take place tonight at 19:30 and will last three hours. You can follow it through the official website of ERR, by clicking HERE.

The participants

Ten artists will compete today in the first semifinal of Eesti Laul 2022, with five advancing to the final. These artists are the following:

2. Helen – “Vaata minu poole
3. Andrei Zevakin feat. Grete Paia – “Mis nüüd saab
4. Alabama Watchdog – “Move On
5. Merilin Mälk – “Little Girl
6. Stig Rästa – “Interstellar
7. Triin Niitoja ja Frants Tikerpuu – “Laululind
8. Kaia-Liisa Kesler – “Vaikus
9. Elina Nechayeva – “Remedy
10. Ott Lepland – “Aovalguses

Elysa and Merilin Mälk unfortunately will not be performing their songs live, since both tested positive for Covid-19 a few days ago. They will be competeing with the music videos of their entries instead.

Format

In the quarterfinals, five songs (out of ten) from each show were selected to advance to the semifinals. Three songs were chosen by the audience and two by the jury.

In the semifinals, five songs from each show will be selected for the final. The two semifinals have two rounds: the winners of the first round are determined by the jury vote and the votes of the viewers via phone calls and the winners of the second round are decided only by the viewers’ vote, also via phone calls.

In the Grand Final the show will have two rounds of voting: The first round will determine the entries that will qualify to the Super Final, 50% by the jury and 50% by the audience. In the Super Final, the Estonian representative will be selected 100% by the audience.

Estonia: Merilin Mälk positive to Covid-19 – She will compete with the Music Video!

Eesti Laul 2022 continues tomorrow with Semi Final 1. However, a short while ago, the Estonian broadcaster announced that Merilin Mälk, who was set to compete in the First Semi Final, was diagnosed with Covid-19 and therefore will not be able to perform live tomorrow. Thankfully, she will be able to compete, with the music video of her song presented instead. The same will happen for Elysa, who was also diagnosed with Covid-19 earlier.

Tomorrow’s semi-final will feature the following artists:

1. Elysa – “Fire” (music video)
2. Helen – “Vaata minu poole
3. Andrei Zevakin feat. Grete Paia – “Mis nüüd saab
4. Alabama Watchdog – “Move On
5. Merilin Mälk – “Little Girl” (music video)

The two semi-finals of Eesti Laul, following the four heats which were completed in November, will take place on February 3 and 5 at the Saku Grand Hall. In each semi-final 10 artists will compete for 5 tickets leading to the grand final on February 12.

Estonia: The semi-finals of Eesti Laul will not have live audience!

Estonian viewers will attend the semi-finals of Eesti Laul through their TVs and the public broadcaster’s channels, ERR, this year, since the Estonian song team and the producers of the show decided that there will be no live audience. However, viewers cam still come to the Saku Great Hall on the day of the final.

The semi-finals will be broadcasted on February 3 and 5 from Estonia’s channels ETV, ETV+, Raadio 2, while those who do not live in Estonia can watch Eesti Laul 2022 from the public broadcaster’s website eer.ee.

The Grand Final of the Estonian national selection, will take place on Saturday, February 12, when the public can attend the morning rehearsal and the evening final.

The division of the participants between the two semi-finals is:

First Semi- Final – February 3 (in alphabetical order):

Eesti Laul, as a method of selecting the Estonian song, is applied since 2009. The winners of the competition have given Estonia some of its best songs – among them: Urban Symphony (2009), Kuula (2012), La Forza (2018).

The winner of last year’s Eesti Laul was Uku Suviste with the song “The Lucky One” and came 13th in the second semi-final with 58 points.
