Poland: TVP extends application deadline for Eurovision 2025!

TVP has decided to extend the application deadline for its televised national selection for Eurovision 2025. After a one-year break, TVP returns to its traditional national selection, giving the chance to aspiring artists to submit their bid for Eurovision 2025 and the public to select its favorite.

Initially, the application window was set to close on December 4th, following its opening on November 8th. However, due to overwhelming interest from potential participants, TVP has decided to extend the deadline, ensuring that more artists have the chance to apply.

Application deadline extended

The submission window for the Polish national selection will now remain open until December 8th, giving additional time for those who wish to enter their songs. This extension follows requests from artists eager to participate in the competition.

Subsequently, some other deadlines associated with the pre-selection process will also be adjusted.

Polish pre-selection for Eurovision 2025 – The procedure

Once the submission window closes, entries will be reviewed by a professional jury. This panel will consist of between nine to fifteen members, including representatives from TVP, artists, media professionals, and Eurovision fans.

The jury will select a maximum of twenty-five songs from all submissions. A casting process will be held among these selected artists, with the possibility that some acts could be directly qualified for the final without needing to go through the casting.

From this group, eight to ten artists will progress to the televised national final. Additionally, two reserve entries will also be selected in case of any withdrawals or changes.

The reveal of the competing acts will take place on January 14, 2025.

The Final

The grand final of Poland’s Eurovision 2025 preselection will be broadcast live on February 14th, 2025, in Warsaw. Unlike the previous editions, the winner will be determined entirely by the public, who will cast their votes via SMS.

In the event of technical difficulties with the SMS voting system, TVP has put in place a contingency plan. Should a voting failure occur, the backup jury will select the winner based on their preferences.

After the final, TVP will publish the full results of the SMS voting, ensuring transparency in the selection process.

This year Poland was represented by Luna with the song “The Tower” without however managing to qualify for the grand final as she finished in 12th place in the first semi-final with 35 points.

Latvia: Listen to the songs participating in Supernova 2025!

A few moments ago, LTV, Latvia’s public broadcaster, revealed the 20 songs that will compete in Supernova, the country’s national final for Eurovision Song Contest 2025! It’s only natural, that after the unexpected qualification in 2024, the fans are interested in what Latvia has to offer this time.

Following the announcement of the contestants, some of the competing songs, were already released. But now, it’s time to listen to all the songs that will compete to wave Latvia’s flag in Switzerland.

Supernova 2025

Supernova 2025 will feature a semi-final and a final. The semi-final is scheduled for February 1, where a combination of jury and public voting will decide who advances to the final. The final will take place on February 8, using the same voting system to select Latvia’s Eurovision 2025 entry, which will compete in Basel.

The songs competing in Supernova 2025 will be officially revealed on December 4.

Last year’s winner of Supernova was Dons with “Hollow” who ended up in 16th place in the final, ending a streak of six consecutive non-qualifications for his country:

Greece: ERT’s participation fee for Eurovision 2025!

The fee that ERT is going to pay for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, which will take place in Basel, Switzerland on May 13, 15 and 17, has been approved.

According to Diavgeia, the financial participation fee that ERT will pay for Greece‘s participation in the 69th Eurovision Song Contest has been approved. The total amount is €143,243 and includes the costs of participation and broadcasting Eurovision.

The above amount does not concern other participation expenses, such as tickets, hotel accommodation, production costs, staging, etc.

This amount is different for each participating country and is based on quantitative criteria, one of which is population. In fact, the countries that pay the highest fees (United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France, Germany) make up the Big 5 and therefore have the right to directly qualify for the grand final.

The fee for 2025 is lower than that for Eurovision 2024, which amounted to 176,647.20 euros.

Montenegro: No decision for NeonoeN and “Clickbait” yet!

No decision has been made yet for NeonoeN group and their song “Clickbait” and if they continue to be the participation of Montenegro in the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, depsite the fact that the final decision is expected whithin the day.

The national broadcaster of Montenegro, RTCG, posted an update on the case through their official account on Instagram.

“RTCG and UEUI requested the opinion of the European Broadcasting Union — the organiser of the Eurovision Song Contest — about whether NeonoeN in the newly created circumstances fulfills conditions for performing in Basel next year.”

“We want MONTESONG to remain a symbol of transparency and quality, in accordance with Eurovision rules. All decisions will be made in cooperation with the EBU. There will be no hasty decisions. That’s why it is important that everyone show patience and understanding at this moment.”

“The Podgorica rockers have confirmed last year’s song performance. They said: ‘We were not aware that a performance before September 1 was against the competition rules. We will respect every decision of the organisers and the EBU!”

Montenegro: NeonoeN comment on the possibility of being disqualified from Eurovision 2025.

Just a few days ago, the band NeonoeN with their song “CLICKBAIT” won Montesong and the ticket to Basel, Switzerland, as they were selected to represent Montenegro at Eurovision 2025.

However, the national broadcaster of Montenegro, RTCG, confirmed the news that the winning band had presented a different version of the song “CLICKBAIT” before September 1, 2024, which violates the contest’s regulations, and if this is proven, NeonoeN may face disqualification.

The band, following the disclosure of this news, responded via social media, defending their victory and expressing their support in case another artist is chosen. Specifically, NeonoeN wrote in a post on their Instagram account:

Thank you to our colleagues and everyone who reached out to us. We are happy that you know that “CLICKBAIT” won under fair conditions and we had no advantage because we presented one of the versions of the song to a small audience in the past, when Montesong wasn’t even under consideration yet.

As we have already said, we love and appreciate all the participants in Montesong. We will respect any decision and are ready either to represent Montenegro to the best of our ability in Basel, or to support Nina if the decision is not in our favor.

Honestly, we expect and hope that NeonoeN and “CLICKBAIT” will impress at Eurovision and present Montenegro in the best possible way. After all, the EBU has dealt with similar situations in the past and always resolved them the same way.

What will happen if NeonoeN is disqualified from Eurovision 2025?

Nina Žižić, who came second in Montesong with her song “Dobrodošli” (“Welcome”), could replace NeonoeN if they are disqualified from the contest. However, in the past, EBU has faced similar situations without canceling any participation. For example, after the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, a public performance of an earlier version of Jamala’s winning song “1944” from May 2015 was discovered. The video had been viewed by a few hundred people before it was published. The EBU then determined that the published video did not give Jamala’s song an unfair advantage in Eurovision 2016, and therefore no sanctions were imposed. A similar incident occurred with the 2019 Eurovision-winning song “Arcade” by Duncan Laurence, and the decision was similar to Jamala’s case.

Montenegro: Are NeonoeN at risk of being disqualified from Eurovision 2025?

Is there a possibility that the band NeonoeN and their song “CLICKBAIT” will be disqualified from the 69th Eurovision Song Contest?

As it was revealed via the official accounts of the national broadcaster of Montenegro and Montesong on Instagram, there is a possibility that “CLICKBAIT” and NeonoeN will be disqualified as representatives of this Balkan country. Specifically, the national broadcaster of Montenegro RTCG will investigate a video in which the band is seen performing their song at last year’s Kulture Zabjelo festival, that is, before September 1, 2024.

The final decision will be made tomorrow on whether “CLICKBAIT” will remain Montenegro’s entry for Eurovision 2025, following consultation between RTCG and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

In the event of the band’s disqualification, the second-place finisher in the Montesong 2024 ranking, Nina Žižić, will most likely take over the representation with the song “Dobrodošli”.

Israel: All the highlights from the eighth episode of HaKokhav Haba!

The eighth episode of the highly anticipated Israeli selection process for Eurovision 2025, HaKokhav Haba, aired tonight. This competition, known in English as “The Next Star”, is the format used by Israel to choose its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Since its debut in 2015, HaKokhav Haba has been the main selection method for Israel, excluding the years 2022 and 2023. The show has achieved significant success, notably securing Israel’s Eurovision victory with Netta in 2018.

Though filming for this season began on October 10 at Neve Ilan Studios, on November 10 the official broadcast commenced on Israeli television.

Hosts and Judging Panel

Returning to host the show are Rotem Sela and Assi Azar. Azar has been involved with HaKokhav Haba since its inaugural edition in 2013 and previously hosted the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. Sela joined as a host in the second season and has been a presenter ever since.

The judging panel for this season includes a diverse group of music industry veterans:

  • Eden Hason
  • Ran Danker
  • Itay Levi

With their combined experience, the panel ensures a high level of competition, which promises to be even more intense than last season’s edition.

Contestants and Their Performances

In tonight’s episode, six more contestants took the stage, and five of them advanced to the next stage of the competition. Here’s a look at some of the standout performances:

Noah Feynman

The 17-year-old Noah Feynman hails from Rishon LeZion. She says she has been singing and dancing for as long as she can remember. Coming from a musical family, her father, Uri Feinman, participated in Israel’s national selection for Eurovision in 1991 and 1992. Noah performed “Arcade” by Duncan Laurence, dividing the judges. While Assaf Amdursky and Ran Danker voted against her, Noah advanced to the next round with a score of 72%.

Ido Amador

The 26-year-old from Alcana is a violinist. He performed “Stone Cold” by Demi Lovato, starting softly on the piano but reaching impressive vocal heights. By the end, all the judges voted in favor, and Ido advanced to the next round with a remarkable 91%.

Shira Knop

Shira, 26, from Jerusalem, performed “Don’t Be Afraid at All” by Ninet Tayeb. She showcased a steady voice and great confidence. Although Shira failed to raise the wall, Essi Rotem pressed the “SAVE” button, giving her a ticket to the next round after initially receiving 64% of the votes.

Roy Berger

The 24-year-old from Jerusalem is a vocal coach and singer. Passionate about music from a young age, Roy aspires to make people dance with his tunes. He chose to sing “Cosmic Girl” by Jamiroquai. While the song didn’t immediately captivate the audience, he secured a spot in the next round with 87% and unanimous support from the judges.

Hamsa Band

Hamsa is a band from Israel that enjoyed success from 2000 to 2004. They previously attempted to reach the Eurovision stage, participating in the national final in 2001. After disbanding in 2004, they reunited with a new single and are ready to compete for the country’s representation. Performing “Rakdi” by Yishai Levy, they displayed strong on-stage chemistry. Despite Assaf voting against them, the band advanced to the next round with 74%.

The next episode of HaKokhav Haba will be broadcast tonight.

The winner of HaKokhav Haba and therefore Israel’s representative in Eurovision 2024 was Eden Golan. Eden Golan performed her song “Hurricane“, finishing fifth overall.

Armenia: Depi Evratesil Confirmed for Eurovision 2025!

Armenia has officially announced that its representative and song for Eurovision 2025 will be chosen through the national selection Depi Evratesil, which returns as the primary selection method.

The Armenian public broadcaster, AMPTV, revealed that the submission period for entries will open soon, offering artists the opportunity to compete in this popular national final.

Depi Evratesil has been a key part of Armenia’s Eurovision journey, having been used in 2017, 2018, and 2020. In 2020, Athena Manoukian won with her song “Chains On You”. However, due to the cancellation of Eurovision that year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, she never had the chance to perform on the Eurovision stage.

In its most recent appearance in 2024, Armenia achieved 8th place with the song “Jako” by Ladaniva, marking a strong return to the top 10 after several years out of the spotlight.

Slovenia: 114 songs submitted for EMA 2025!

The total number of the entries submitted for EMA 2025, the national song contest through which Slovenia is going to pick their entry for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, was revealed tonight.

In the official account of EMA on Instagram it was announced that 114 songs were submitted in order to claim the representation of Slovenia in the upcoming Eurovision 2025.

Upon completion of the submission process, a three-member panel will evaluate the submissions and select the 12 EMA 2025 entries. The list of participants is expected no later than December 20.

EMA 2025 will be held on February 1. The result will be determined through two rounds of voting. In the first round, five committees will vote using the same method used in Eurovision (1-8, 10 and 12). Each committee will consist of five members who will belong to specific groups of people. The five committees will be:

  • Music jury (singers, musicians, producers, songwriters creators etc.)
  • Television jury (editors, presenters, directors, choreographers etc.)
  • Radio jury (radio editors, journalists, presenters, etc.)
  • OGAE Slovenia jury
  • International Eurovision influencer jury (bloggers, vloggers, online journalists etc.)

After the above juries have cast their votes, the top two songs will continue to the EMA superfinal round. In this round, the winner will be determined by the public vote.

Montenegro: Montesong Final to take place tonight!

The national final season officially begins today! Tonight, Montenegro is set to select the artist who will represent the country in its return to Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland!

RTCG, Montenegro’s public broadcaster, has decided to hold a national final to celebrate its return to Eurovision after a two-year absence. Sixteen artists have been selected to compete in tonight’s Grand Final of Montesong 2024!

The final of Montesong 2024 will take place tonight at 20:00 CET. The national final will be broadcast on RTCG’s channel and the official Montesong YouTube channel. You can watch it by clicking HERE.

How will Montesong 2024 be conducted:

Montesong 2024 will be held live from Podgorica and will mark the first national selection of the season, selecting the first song for Eurovision 2025. Sixteen songs will compete, with the winner being chosen through public and jury vote, at a ratio of 50% each.
