Geolier: “Angelina Mango rightfully won and I voted for her!”

Geolier, who secured the second place in this year’s Sanremo Festival, faced both applause and criticism at the Teatro Ariston. He encountered disapproval from the audience when it was announced that he was leading in the overall rankings just before the final began, and also when he won on the night of the covers. Despite this, he made a comeback with new statements, speaking about the fair victory of Angelina Mango, as well as the criticism he received for his attire on the green carpet of Teatro Ariston.

For his first official appearance at Sanremo, the rapper wore a tracksuit from Naples, his favorite team. However, he was approached by a staff member of the Festival, who negatively commented on the sports tracksuit worn by the singer. Later, the same person passed him a sticker to cover the logo of Napoli, which the singer tore off.

“I speak the language of the neighborhoods, the Neapolitan of the people. Mahmood, Fred de Palma, and I were there; they whistled anyway: they weren’t against me. Angelina had to win. She did something spectacular. And I voted for her. Then I gave myself the other four votes for safety. Why did I win the cover night? Because it proves that when Naples commits itself, there is nothing for anyone: it becomes a chain! No one else has that, no city,” said Geolier.

At the start of the final evening, Amadeus revealed the general ranking up to that moment. Geolier was first, winning every night thanks to the televoting, in which he received huge percentages. However, he ultimately took the second place, as he was rated very low by both journalists and radio representatives.

For the record, Geolier was the artist who received the highest percentages in the televoting, while also receiving the fewest votes from the judging panels. However, history will write that he took second place and that Angelina Mango was the winner of the festival and the representative of Italy at Eurovision 2024.

Italy: “I’m happy, it couldn’t have been better”, says Geolier!

Sanremo 2024 was concluded with Serata Finale, the past Saturday. While being Amadeus’ most successful, in terms of viewing rates, edition, there was also a lot of controversy on Geolier, who despite winning the public vote every night, did not eventually win the big prize.

Geolier was booed by the audience at Teatro Ariston following the announcement of the general classification at the start of the Grand Final and again when he won the covers’ night. Despite not winning the Festival, Geolier seemed satisfied with the outcome and supports Angelina Mango.

I liked everything. Yesterday it was me and Angelina on stage, two guys born after 2000. I’m happy, it couldn’t have been better. No bitterness about the frustration.

Geolier led the General Classification, won the public voting every night, and placed first in the final round of public voting by a large margin over second place, he did not win. The radio and media committees placed him very low on the scoreboard, ensuring Angelina’s victory.

Geolier’s participation was enough to reignite the rivalry between the North and the South, being a proud representative of Naples, rapping in Neapolitan dialect. The south of Italy backed him as much as possible, and his low placement on juries was viewed negatively by Neapolitans as discrimination against South Italians.

However, the winner takes it all and Angelina Mango was crowned the winner of Festival di Sanremo 2024 with her song “La Noia” and will therefore represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, held in Malmö, Sweden.

Italy: Geolier Speaks Out After Controversial Booing!

Yesterday’s finale at the Ariston Theater took an unexpected turn during the cover night, ending with boos and protests from the audience who did not appreciate the winner. Rapper Geolier emerged victorious thanks to his performance alongside Guè, Luchè, and Gigi D’Alessio. However, instead of applause, the singer was met with a barrage of disapproving boos during the award ceremony.

Interviewed by Corriere della Sera, Geolier couldn’t hide his disappointment:

“I did everything to bring these three giants to the stage. Then, to win and go on stage with people booing, getting up, and leaving… It was one of the worst performances. Actually, the worst…”.

The evening, which was eagerly anticipated, ended on a sour note as the audience’s reaction marred what should have been a celebratory moment. Despite Geolier‘s efforts and the collaboration with esteemed artists, the response from the audience was unexpected and deeply disappointing.

The controversy surrounding the outcome of the cover night at Sanremo 2024 raises questions about the audience’s role in shaping the festival’s atmosphere and the impact of their reactions on the performers. Geolier’s candid remarks reflect the frustration of an artist who poured his heart into his performance only to be met with disdain from the crowd.

As Sanremo 2024 continues tonight, the incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of live performances and the emotional rollercoaster that artists often experience on stage.
