Israeli songs banned at Eurovision Village in Malmo!
In an exclusive article, Ynetnews reports that the instructions of the organizers to the DJs who will play music at the Eurovillage, during Eurovision 2024, is not to play any Israeli entries for security reasons.
According to what is mentioned in the relevant article, the directive concerns the events and parties that will be held at the Eurovillage and not the private parties that will be held in clubs and cafes in Malmö, where the DJs are free to play any song they want.
An Israeli DJ who participates every year in the Eurovision events says:
The instruction I received this morning was that in the village itself, Israeli songs must not be played, but in other parties, I can play what I want. I think the reason for the decision is a security concern. There are many Muslims and supporters of Palestinians in Malmo and many of them are expected to come to the Eurovision Village. I suppose the producers wanted to avoid a fuss or anything that would disrupt things in the village.
The EBU and the municipality of Malmö have not yet commented on the above.
