Junior Eurovision 2024: Artem Kotenko will represent Ukraine in Madrid!

Today it was Ukraine’s turn to select its entry for Junior Eurovision 2024. Just a while ago, the Ukrainian national selection for Junior Eurovision 2024, was concluded. For another year as Ukraine opted for a national final in order to select its Junior Eurovision entry and the show was broadcasted live from Kyiv, Ukraine.

Hosted by Anna Trincher (Ukraine 2015, Junior Eurovision), Anna Tulyeva and Timur Miroshnychenko (host of Junior Eurovision 2009 and 2013, host of Eurovision 2017) and following the combination of votes from a national jury and public voting in equal shares, Artem Kotenko was crowned as the winner with his song “Dim“.

Out of the entries submitted to the Ukrainian broadcaster, six were long-listed by Suspilne. Hence, a total of six acts advanced to the televised final of and were the following:

  1. Illia Konovchenko (ILKO) – “SPACESHIP”
  2. Anastasiia Bielibova– “Unbelievable”
  3. Veronika Kohan – “Harmony”
  4. Zlata Ivaniv – “Namysto” (Necklace)
  5. Artem Kotenko – “Dim (Home)”
  6. Anhelina Hlohus – “Plachut’ yanholy” (Crying angels)

The voting process

A professional jury along with the public vote decided in equal shares who would fly the Ukrainian flag in Madrid.

5 points– Artem Kotenko

4 points – Anastasiia Bielibova

3 points– Veronika Kohan

2 points– Illia Konovchenko

1 point– Anhelina Hlohus

6 points– Artem Kotenko

4 points– Anastasiia Bielibova

3 points– Veronika Kohan

2 points– Illia Konovchenko

The winner

Following the combination of the above and with a total of 11 points, by winning both the tie with Zlata Ivaniv and the public vote, Artem Kotenko was crowned as the winner and will therefore serve as the country’s representative in the 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest that will take place in Madrid in November.

The 22nd edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held on November 16 in Madrid, Spain, following the country’s second-place finish last year and the refusal of the winning country, France, to host for the second year in a row. The slogan for this year’s contest is “Let’s Bloom!”, while Ruth LorenzoMarc Clotet and Melani Garcia will serve as this year’s hosts.
