Latvia: Citi Zēni is representing the country in Eurovision 2022!

The grand final of Supernova 2022, the national final of Latvia, has just been completed, with the country choosing Citi Zēni as the final’s winners and therefore their representatives for Eurovision 2022 in Turin. This is the first time the country organized a national final after a one-year break were Latvia picked internally Samanta Tīna to represent the country in 2021 after winning the in 2020.

A total of eleven finalists, that were picked among 130 submitted songs, competed in the national final, claiming the ticket to Turin.

The eleven artists

The eleven candidates of the night were:

  1. Raum – “Plans“
  2. Linda Rušeniece – “Pay My Own Bills“
  3. Bermudu Divstūris – “Bad“
  4. Miks Galvanovskis – “I’m Just a Sinner“
  5. Bujāns – “He, She, You & Me“
  6. Elīna Gluzunova – “Es pabiju tur“
  7. Citi Zēni – “Eat Your Salad“
  8. Inspo – “A Happy Place“
  9. Mēs Jūs Mīlam – “Rich Itch“
  10. Aminata – “I’m Letting You Go“
  11. Miks Dukurs –“First Love“

Regarding Miks Dukurs, he has qualified as a wildcard and will compete in the final, following an evaluation by the organization which found out that the artist’s performance in the semifinal was affected by technical issues

50% of the results in the show comes from the jury, while the other 50% from the audience.

The Results

After the public and the international juries voted the top three of the national final is:

  1. Citi Zēni
  2. Aminata
  3. Bujāns

The big winner of Supernova 2022 were Citi Zēni with the song “Eat your salad“.

Latvia: Miks Dukurs has earned a spot in the final of Supernova 2022!

Latvian broadcaster LTV has announced that Miks Dukurs has qualified as a wildcard and will compete in the Supernova 2022 final, following an evaluation by the organization which found out that the artist’s performance in the semifinal was affected by technical issues.

Members of the Supernova and LTV jury evaluated the recording of Miks’s appearance and found that the technical fault in question had a significant effect on the sound quality.

Miks Dukurs became the eleventh finalist in Superonova 2022 and will be competing with the other ten artists for the ticket to Eurovision 2022:

  2. Linda Rušeniece – “Pay My Own Bills“
  3. Bermudu Divstūris – “Bad“
  4. Miks Galvanovskis – “I’m Just a Sinner“
  5. Bujāns – “He, She, You & Me“
  6. Elīna Gluzunova – “Es pabiju tur“
  7. Citi Zēni – “Eat Your Salad“
  8. Inspo – “A Happy Place“
  9. Mēs Jūs Mīlam – “Rich Itch“
  10. Aminata – “I’m Letting You Go“
  11. Miks Dukurs –“First Love“

LTV also announced that The Roop and Uku Suviste will perform in the final of the latvian selection. The selection of both last year’s representatives of Lithuania and Estonia to perform at the Supernova final has been made symbolically, as on Saturday the other two Baltic countries, Lithuania and Estonia, are also choosing their representative in addition to Latvia.

The heads of the Latvian broadcaster have also clarified that the viewers will have the right to vote for the songs of their choice as many times as they want. We remind you that the final result will be determined 50% by the Latvian viewers and 50% by the jury that will be composed of native and non-native professionals of the music industry.

Latvia: The 10 qualifiers for the Grand Final!

Tonight the semi-final of Latvia’s national final, Supernova 2022, was completed successfully and the finalists for the grand finale broadcasted by LTV1 were decided.

A total of seventeen candidates competed in the semi-final, claiming ten or eleven places for Saturday’s grand final. Presenters of the evening were Ketija Šēnberga and Lauris Reiniks.

The candidates

The seven candidates of the night were the following:

  1. Citi Zēni – “Eat Your Salad“
  2. Miks Dukurs – “First Love“
  3. Linda Rušeniece – “Pay My Own Bills“
  4. Elīna Gluzunova – “Es pabiju tur“
  5. Raum – “Plans“
  6. Patriks Peterson – “Can’t Get You Outta My Head“
  7. Mēs Jūs Mīlam – “Rich Itch“
  8. Katō – “Promises“
  9. Miks Galvanovskis – “I’m Just a Sinner“
  10. Markus Riva – “If You’re Gonna Love Me“
  11. The Coco’nuts – “In and Out of the Dark“
  12. Aminata* – “I’m Letting You Go“
  13. Bermudu Divstūris – “Bad“
  14. Beatrise Heislere – “On the Way Home“
  15. Zelma – “How“
  16. Bujāns – “He, She, You & Me“
  17. Inspo – “A Happy Place“

*Aminata didn’t get to perform her song live on stage as she tested positive for COVID-19. Instead, the singer performed “I’m Letting You Go” remotely.

50% of the results in the two shows (semifinals and a final) comes from the jury, while the other 50% from the audience.

Latvia: The running order of the Supernova 2022 semi-final!

This morning the Latvian broadcaster LTV announced the running order of the artists in the semifinal of Supernova 2022! We remind you that this is the first time that Supernova only has one semifinal!

The semifinal of Supernova will take place on February 5 at 20:05 CET on LTV1 and REplay.lv, where the 10 songs with the highest rating by judges and audience will advance to the grand final that will take place on February 12!
