Norway: Listen to the songs of Melodi Grand Prix 2025!

The songs that are going to compete in Melodi Grand Prix 2025, the national competition through which Norway selects its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, have been released.

Norway: Listen to the snippets of the Melodi Grand Prix 2025 entries!

Snippets of the songs that are going to compete in Melodi Grand Prix 2025, the national competition through which Norway selects its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, have been released.

Shortly after the announcement of the artists who are going to claim the representation of the Nordic kingdom at Eurovision 2025, the national broadcaster NRK released excerpts of the songs, which are scheduled to be released in full on January 24.

Norway: Melodi Grand Prix 2025 participants revealed!

Moments ago, Norway’s public broadcaster, NRK, revealed the artists set to compete in this year’s Melodi Grand Prix (MGP) for the chance to represent the country at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland!

The nine selected artists are:

The artists were chosen back in November and include:

  1. Bobbysocks“Joyfyll”
  2. Nora Jabri – “Sulali”
  3. LLL“Parasite”
  4. Nataleen“The Game”
  5. Sondrey“Vagabong”
  6. Ladybug“Hot as Hell in Paradise”
  7. Tone Damli“Last Song”
  8. Kyle Alessandro“Lighter”
  9. Wig Wam –  “Human Fire”

Among the contestants, we see some familiar faces from previous editions of MGP like Tone Damli and Kyle Alessandro, as well as exciting newcomers to the competition. Of course the most notable ones are Bobbysocks, the duo that won Eurovision 1985 with “La Det Swinge”, and Wig Wam, who return to the contest after 40 and 20 years since their participations in 1985 and 2005 respectively.

The songs for Melodi Grand Prix 2025 will be released on January 24, while the grand event will take place at Oslo Spektrum on February 15, 2025. The evening will be hosted by Marte Stokstad, Tete Lidbom, and Markus Neby, who promise an unforgettable show.

Last year, Gåte emerged victorious in MGP and represented Norway in Malmö with their song “Ulveham.”Unfortunately, they finished in last place.

Norway: The rumored names for Melodi Grand Prix 2025!

As we are at the beginning of the hot Eurovision season, most countries have already started their preparations for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Basel next May. As expected, Norway, one of the countries with the most exciting national finals, is no exception.

The rumored names for Melodi Grand Prix 2025

According to escnorge, this year’s MGP line-up will feature several big names from the Norwegian music scene, as well as the return of many Eurostars and former Melodi Grand Prix contestants!

With a long list, the Norwegian contest website revealed the artists rumored to participate in MGP 2025.

Here they are:

  • Nora Foss Al-Jabri – MGP 2012, Second place
  • Tone Damli – MGP 2009, MGP 2020, and Melodifestivalen 2013
  • Angelina Jordan – Winner of Norway’s Got Talent and participant in America’s Got Talent: The Champions
  • Kyle Alessandro – MGP 2023
  • LLL (Girlllband)
  • Wig Wam – Represented Norway in Eurovision 2005
  • JOWST – Represented Norway in Eurovision 2017
  • Lavrans – Second place in The Voice 2024
  • Mathilde SPZ – MGP 2024
  • Gaute Ormåsen – Represented Norway in Eurovision 2022
  • EMMY – MGP 2015 and MGP 2021
  • Tolou
  • Alessandra – Represented Norway in Eurovision 2023
  • Didrik Solli-Tangen – Represented Norway in Eurovision 2010

Finally, all the artists of MGP 2025 will be highly promoted by the country’s public broadcaster, and the producers of MGP promise us a spectacular show with plenty of fireworks and LED displays.

  • January 16, 2025: Artist announcement at 12:00, at Studio 1
  • January 24, 2025: Release of the contest songs
  • February 15, 2025: Grand final at Oslo Spektrum The Gåte, winners of last year’s MGP, represented Norway in Malmö with the song “Ulveham,” finishing in last place.

Norway: Nora Foss Al-Jabri is rumored for Melodi Grand Prix 2025!

Television broadcaster TV2 has revealed that Nora Foss Al-Jabri will compete in Melodi Grand Prix 2025, following her 2nd place finish in the 2012 national final.

The singer who became known through Norske Talenter, according to sources who spoke to TV 2, is set to make her comeback at Melodi Grand Prix 2025. In 2012, the singer competed in Melodi Grand Prix with “Somewhere Beautiful” and despite being the jury’s favorite, she finished in 2nd place in the Norwegian final for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Nora Foss Al-Jabri told TV2 that she knows nothing about Melodi Grand Prix, but the singer confirmed that she signed with Sony Music earlier this week and is looking forward to releasing new music in 2025.

Ten artists will compete for the coveted title and the ticket to Eurovision. They will be officially revealed during a grand press event on Thursday, January 16. Media invitations will be sent out early in the new year, adding to the anticipation of who will take the stage at the Oslo Spektrum.

For those eager to experience the  live show, ticket sales begin on Friday, November 22, at 12:00. This is a unique opportunity to witness the excitement and glamour of Norway’s biggest music competition up close.

Last year’s MGP winners, Gåte, represented Norway in Malmö with their song “Ulveham”, finishing in last place.

Norway: MGP 2025 line-up is in the making!

A month ago, it was announced that Stig Karlsen will resign from his roles as project manager for MGP and HoD for Noway after ten years, as he will handle Jannicke Mikkelsen’s communications and media during her SpaceX mission. Despite his resignation, he will remain in his position until September 30th and he is working for the upcoming edition of MGP, the Norwegian national selection for Eurovision.

He disclosed via his personal Instagram account that he has listened to every song submitted for this year’s competition. Now, the live castings will start and we then the lineup will be decided.

Gåte were crowned as the winners of MGP 2024 and therefore the representatives of Norway in Malmö. With their song “Ulveham“, the band placed last in the Grand Final with just sixteen points.

Norway: The submission window for Melodi Grand Prix 2025 opened!

The songs sumbission process in Norway for Melodi Grand Prix 2025 has opened!

Yesterday, the national broadcaster of Norway, NRK, announced the beginning of the songs submission process for Melodi Grand Prix 2025, the national final of the country, in order to choose the next entry of the Scandinavian kingdom at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest in Switzerland!

The songs submission window opened on 6th of August and is about to remain opened until 1st of September.

This year Norway was represented in Malmö by the group Gåte and the song “Ulveham” and finished once again in the last place of the grand final receiving 16 points.
