Belgium: Mustii reveals new info about his Eurovision 2024 song!

In the traditional gathering conducting by OGAE Belgium, fans from the country had the chance to meet Mustii! The Belgian representative took photos with the members and answered their questions regarding the song that will represent Belgium in Malmö!

“It’s a bit of an absurd experience but I’m very happy to have been chosen ,” says Musti. “ It’s so huge. I work on the project day by day. At the moment I’m really into the visuals, but it’s very difficult for me to be here and not be able to tell you anything.I’m almost at the end… ”.

It was really early on, when the Belgian public broadcaster, RTBF, selected Mustii to represent the country in Eurovision. It was in the filming of the first season of Drag Race Belgium” (in July 2022).

Very early in the morning, I was in makeup, still a little sleepy… and the general director of the RTBF Content Department, Sandrine Roustan, asked me if I wanted to represent Belgium. It woke me up suddenly! It didn’t take me long to say yes .”

He admits that his song was not written with Eurovision in mind:

“I composed the song with my team and it is Belgo-Belgian with Flemish, Walloon and Brussels residents. I didn’t want to format something for Eurovision, it really comes from sessions that are linked to my next album. It will fit into an overall aesthetic that I have been working on for several months. It will have a particular resonance. The one I chose has the potential to be developed on a big stage like Eurovision. Like the album, it will be something very personal, undoubtedly one of the most personal things I have done so far. In a month, give or take a few days, you will know everything.”

In the end, finishing with the questions, he stated that he is not standing still and he talked about the importance of the Eurovision Song Contest:

“If I got into these artistic professions like cinema, acting or music, it was to experience extraordinary things and to never stay in my comfort zone. A great way to confront such a barnum or to meet other artists is to participate in Eurovision. It’s an extraordinary platform where I will be able to present my project to an audience that I usually do not have access to. I want to be proud. Of course, we always aim for first place, but above all, I want my performance to be impactful, touching and fair, both artistically and aesthetically.”

As we’ve previously informed you, Mustii had the chance to record the final chorus of his song, alongside hs fans. More than 1.000 voice samples were sent to RTBF in just a week, mainly from countries outside Belgium.

We remind you that Belgium’s song will be released in February. Mustii retains his musical identity in the Eurovision stage and his song be pop with some dark elements but also new wave and rock, according to his music style, which his fans are accustomed to.

Belgium: Mustii’s song will be released in February!

Yesterday, RTBF, the French-language broadcaster from Belgium, was the first to announce its artist for Eurovision 2024. 33 years-old Mustii will be the one to fly the Belgian flag to Malmö, a well known artist in the French-speaking part of Belgium.

During an interview with VRT, Mustii announced that his Eurovision entry will be released in February. Meanwhile, he got into details about his Eurovision participation as well as what to expect from him.

According to Mustii, RTBF contacted him, bearing in mind that he is also a judge on Drag Race Belgium, which is produced by RTBF.

Mustii mentions that:

My style evolves into pop with a dark edge. I have influences from new wave and rock, but they remain pop albums. I contrast pop with fragile subjects, I like to play with them. My last album, for example, was a homage to my uncle who had schizophrenia.

He also says that:

My idea is to go to the Eurovision Song Contest with my own DNA. I don’t want to lie, I want to be sincere and authentic. I don’t want to create a fake character.[…] But I have been working in the studio for a while. I also want the song to be part of an album and not just a random song for the Eurovision Song Contest.

So, we can expect that Mustii will keep his artistic identity on the Eurovision stage and his song will be similar to his music style.

Belgium seeks to keep its qualification streak and respectable results. Gustaph’s unexpected success in Liverpool seems that was the motivating force that led to an as early as possible and professional selection procedure.
