Croatia: Natalie Balmix opposes to her disqualification from Dora 2025!

Yesterday, HRT announced that Natalie Balmix, who was initially set to perform her song “Život ide dalje” at Dora 2025, has been disqualified from the competition lineup. She has been replaced by Fenksta, a reserve act, due to a breach of the competition’s rules.

While Balmix has been removed from the official Dora 2025 line-up, she did not let the matter go without comment. The artist took to her personal Instagram account to publicly oppose her disqualification, sharing a statement that provided her perspective on the situation.

In her post, Natalie Balmix specifically mentioned:

My legal team read the rulebook and nowhere could they find any percentage that would determine if a song is too altered.
We refined the song in order to make it as high quality as possible and make it as good as possible at this year’s Dora and potentially at Eurovision.

Why was Natalie Balmix disqualified?

According to HRT’s official statement, the rules allowed artists to make final changes to their entries until January 5. However, Balmix submitted a new version of her song that was found to be significantly different from the one initially submitted. Following an investigation, independent music producers confirmed that the song’s production, arrangement, and lyrics had been altered so drastically that it could no longer be considered the same work. This breach of competition rules led to her disqualification.

The aforementioned is against Dora’s rules, and that led to HRT disqualifying Natalie Balmix from the selection. It is still unknown whether Natalie Balmix’s team will take legal action against HRT following her disqualification.
