Germany: Further insight regarding “Germany 12 points”
After two consecutive last placing and three placings in the 25th position in the last six contests, the German national broadcaster decided to host a national final for the selection of the German representative at the upcoming 66th Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy.
The national final is not going to be “Unser Lied für Turin”, as expected, but a new show under the name “Germany 12 points” which is scheduled to take place on the 4th of March. Additionally, on 10th of February the six artists who are going to compete at the show in Berlin as well as the members of the jury are going to be revealed.
The jury panel consists of members from Bayern3, Antenne Brandenburg, Bremen 4, HR 3, MDR Jump, NDR 2, SR 1, SWR 3 and WDR 2. The only already known name of this jury is Alexandra Wolfslast, the head of delegation of Germany at the contest. The task of this jury was to select the artists of the German national final among almost 1000 candidates. The final six artists emerged among 25 shortlisted candidates, who performed live before the jury on 14th and 15th of January.
After the artists and the jury members revelation the public is going to choose who will fly the German flag in Turin through an online voting which starts on 28th of February and is going to continue on the day of the final too, through SMS and telephone calls.
The hostess of Germany 12 points is going to be Barbara Schöneberger.
Last year Germany was represented by Jendrik and his song “I Don’t Feel Hate” which finished on 25th place receiving three points from the jury and zero from the televoting.
