Monaco: The reasons behind Eurovision 2024 non-participation

After a few years, Monaco’s right to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest was restored following the official debut of TVMonaco, the microstate’s new public broadcaster.

This has given rise to several speculations regarding Monaco’s potential comeback to the competition. However, these rumors were refuted, when it was revealed last month that Monaco will not be competing in Eurovision 2024.

Frédéric Cauderlier, the head editor of TVMonaco, explained the reasons behind Monaco’s non-participation in an interview with L’Observateur.

“The deadlines are too tight for registrations. Additionally, at this point in time, the channel’s launch prevents us from immediately focusing on this project”.

Monaco last participated in Eurovision in 2006, and has one win, in 1981, with Séverine’s “Un banc, un arbre, une rue”. Would you like to see Monaco return to the competition?
