Poland: Applications for Malmö now open!
The Polish public broadcaster, TVP, only left Eurofans everywhere in suspense for a few hours after yesterday’s publication on social media that announcements are expected within the next few days regarding the country’s representation at Eurovision 2024. Thus, just a few minutes ago, the makers of Polish broadcasting made announcements regarding Poland‘s representation in Malmö.
The procedure
In an announcement a few minutes ago, TVP confirmed that it will proceed for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest with an internal selection, giving all interested parties the opportunity to send their songs until 2 February.
To participate in the preselection, applicants must be over 16 years old and have Polish citizenship. The submitted songs should not exceed 3 minutes in length and, at the same time, should have been published after 1 September, as stipulated in the official regulations of the Eurovision Song Contest.
As stated in the regulations of the Polish national selection, it is important that entries must not contain discriminatory content against any social group, in line with Eurovision’s commitment to promote culture, diversity and universal values.
Selection method
The selection process involves a panel that will evaluate the songs on the basis of specific criteria. Interested participants must respect the guidelines outlined in the regulations, including age restrictions, nationality requirements and the originality of the submitted work.
Would-be entrants may submit their applications online, including a completed entry form, signed rules and related materials. A five-person jury will then evaluate each entry, awarding points on a scale of 1 to 10 based on quality. The entry with the highest marks will secure the coveted place of Poland’s representative at Eurovision 2024.
It is worth clarifying that the date of the announcement of the Polish representative in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest is not mentioned in the rules published by TVP.
