Italy: Damiano David to perform as guest act in Sanremo 2025!
The excitement builds high as we are only three weeks apart from the 75th edition of the Sanremo Music Festival. Thirty-four artists will compete for the Golden Lion prize and the chance to represent Italy in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
Some moments ago, Sanremo’s new creative director, Carlo Conti, announced that the previous lead singer of the Eurovision 2021-winning band Måneskin, Damiano David would perform at Sanremo during its traditional pre-listening press event.
David has recently launched a solo career away from the band, releasing singles like “Silverlines” and “Born With a Broken Heart” as a solo artist in 2024.
In 2021, he and Måneskin won Sanremo, which acts as the Italian selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Their song “Zitti e Buoni” went on to represent Italy at that year’s Eurovision in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, where they won the contest for Italy for the first time since 1990.
With David announced to be performing on the second night of the festival, that means he will perform during the show on Wednesday February 12.

Italian representation in Eurovision 2025
If any of the 24 competitors (along with their respective record labels) want to compete in Eurovision 2025, they must complete a special form by the beginning of the festival’s final night on Saturday, February 15.
If the Sanremo 2025 winner has previously signed the interest form, he will be automatically considered Italy’s representative in the Eurovision 2025. Should he decide not to compete in Eurovision 2025, the festival’s organizing committee will select an artist from among those who have signed the interest form based on its own standards, which may or may not include the final score ranking.
Although originally scheduled from February 4 to February 8, eventually the festival was postponed, a week later. Therefore, it will take place from February 11 to February 15 in the small Ligurian town.
The winner of Sanremo’s Music Festival in 2024 was the debutant Angelina Mango with her song “La Noia“, who ultimately gained the right to represent Italy in Eurovision 2024, placing seventh in the Grand Final.
