Andorra: Are they returning in Eurovision 2026?
Rumors about the return of the Principality of Andorra to the Eurovision Song Contest are starting again.
TV3, the main television channel of the Catalan broadcaster CCMA, appears to be in talks with Andorra’s state broadcaster, RTVA, for the small Pyrenean principality to return to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2026.
Entertainment executives traveled to Andorra to discuss the possibility of the winner of Eufòria representing Andorra at Eurovision 2026. Eufòria is a Catalan music competition organized by TV3 since 2022, in which 16 singers compete for a music contract.
The Catalan broadcaster sought to become a full member of the European Broadcasting Union, as Catalonia considered competing in the Eurovision Song Contest. The Catalan broadcaster applied for membership in April 2019, but was rejected in July 2019, with the EBU stating:
“The EBU does not have, nor has it ever had, any regional station of a member state of the International Telecommunication Union or the Council of Europe as an independent member. EBU statutes do not offer this possibility.”
If the talks proceed, it would not be the first time that the two organizations have collaborated, as they had collaborated in 2004, in anticipation of Andorra’s Eurovision 2004 debut.
The last time Andorra participated was in 2009 with Susanne Georgi and the song “La teva decisión (Get a Life)”, but did not advance to the final, finishing in 15th place in the first semi-final with 8 points.
