The Netherlands: Cornald Maas to be the commentator of AVROTROS at Eurovision 2025!

Cornald Maas will be the commentator for the Dutch national broadcaster for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025!

Although last year’s events surrounding the disqualification of the Dutch entry shortly before the Eurovision 2024 final may have led the Dutch commentator to make harsh statements against the European Broadcasting Union, it was announced that Cornald Maas, who is very experienced in this role, will also be taking on the commentary for the public broadcaster AVROTROS in 2025. This year, he will be taking on the commentary alone as Jacqueline Govaert, who was with him last year, will not be available for this role.

AVROTROS stated:

“Many countries have just one commentator and we see that this works well. We are confident that Cornald, with his experience and enormous knowledge of the Eurovision Song Contest, will be a source of information for the viewer during the semi-finals and final.”

Cornald Maas stated:

“I really liked the dual commentary with Jacqueline last year, but unfortunately she cannot take on this role this year. I want to involve the audience more this year, like a faraway sidekick.”

The Netherlands, who will be represented this year by Claude, and with the entry being released next Thursday, February 27, have been allocated in the second half of the first semi-final on May 13.
