Iceland: Listen to the songs of Söngvakeppnin 2024!

RÚV, the public broadcaster of Iceland is going to select its representative for Eurovision 2024, once again through Söngvakeppnin, the country’s national final!

The specially formed jury, had the task of selecting ten song, from the 118 submitted, which were announced a little while ago, through the TV show “Lögin i Söngvakeppninni”

The 10 artists selected by the jury to compete in the semi-final of Söngvakeppnin 2024, claiming the representation of the Island in Eurovision 2024 are:

First Semi-Final, 17/2:

  1. CeaseTone – Ró / Flow
  2. Blankiflúr –  Sjá þig / Love You
  3. ANITA – Stingum af / Downfall
  4. Sunny – Fiðrildi
  5. VÆB- Bíómynd / Movie Scene

Second Semi-Final:

  1. Hera Björk – Við förum hærra / Scared of Heights
  2. Heiðrún Anna – Þjakaður af ást
  3. Bashar Murad – Vestrið villt / Wild West
  4. Sigga Ózk – Um allan alheiminn / Into the Atmosphere
  5. MAIAAFljúga burt

In case the same rules as last years apply, all contestants will perform their song in Icelandic in the semi-finals, while in the final, they can choose between whichever version they want (Icelandic or English).

The two semi-finals will take place in February 17 and 24. Two artists will qualify from each semi-final to the Grand Final, which is set to take place in March 2. The producers of the show have the option to add a fifth finalists as a wildcard from the semi-finalists. The hosts will once again be Ragnhildur Steinunn JónsdóttirSigurður Þorri Gunnarsson and Unnsteinn Manuel Stefánsson.

In the final, there will be two rounds. In the first round, the two acts that qualify for the Super Final will be decided by jury and televote, while in the second round, the country’s representative will be decided solely by the public vote.

To counter all these, the Icelandic broadcaster announced that their participation in Eurovision 2024, is still uncertain, regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The winner of Söngvakeppnin will decide whether they want to participate, in cooperation with RÚV.

Diljá represented Iceland in this year’s competition with the song “Power“, finishing 11th in the second semi-final with 44 points, failing to advance to the final.
