Montenegro: The country is returning back to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2025!

The small Balkan country, Montenegro, is returning to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2025. The choice of the song and the representative will be made through a national final, Montesong 2024.

Within 2024, Montenegro will choose the song and artist that will raise the country’s flag next May, at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest. The country’s public broadcaster has published the Montesong 2024 regulations on its website.

The deadline for submitting entries is until October 1st. The performers must have the citizenship of Montenegro, while the lyrics of the songs must be in one of the official languages of the country by at least 51%.

An RTCG panel will select a maximum of 16 songs to compete in Montesong 2024. Each judge will score the songs out of 100 points (50 for melody, 30 for lyrics and 20 for production). Any songs that exceed 75 points will go through to the final stage of Montesong 2024. If no song exceeds this limit, then RTCG reserves the right to send to Eurovision 2025 by internal selection any artist it wishes.

Although there is no date for the Montesong 2024 final, it is expected at the end of the year. The winner will be selected by the netting of the audience score and a jury.

This will be Montenegro’s 13th participation in the competition. The country’s best position is 13th, with Knez and his Adio. Montenegro’s last participation in Eurovision was in 2022.
